Do any of you know of a good place(s) to shoot in the Williamsburg, Marengo, Belle Plaine area? Just got relocated and needing a place to site in my new scope. Thanks

My older Son lives in that area but I haven't heard him talk about public ranges. We shoot on his small farm w/o hassle from neighbors/LEO. I'll try to remember to ask him next time we talk.

In the Competition Shooting forum I always see threads about a range in Waterloo. Not sure of the name or whether it's a public or private range, but maybe something to look into.

EDIT: Looks like the name is Cedar Valley Pistol Range.

Waterloo would be a fairly significant drive. I talked to Son last night but his signal was poor and I lost him before I got a chance to ask. There may be some state areas that allow shooting but are not actually ranges. I think there may be one in the Amana area but don't know if it's fully public.

Here's what he sent today.
Only place I know of is a range on the north side of Hawkeye Wildlife area, off of Amana Road. That would be around the NW corner of Coralville lake. Pistol, 50 yard rifle, 100 yard rifle, down the road an area to set up your own clay tosser, and a bow range.

That's a fair piece from Williamburg. That area is mostly gun friendly if you get away from the recent developments so the chance of finding a landowner who would let you shoot might be good.
