I've heard nothing but great things about it, and it's on my wish list. Unfortunatley it's not in my budget right now.

Anyone else on here have one of these ??

Nope, sure don't; haven't even seen one til now. Wouldn't mind having one but quite a bit (quite a lot actually), out of my price range. Nice looking gun, especially like the grip frame shape and treatment.

That looks like very high quality firearm. I have never seen one. I would say silk scarf and box or two of ASYM ammo would help in dressing up that pic a bit.

My standard recommendation for folks looking for quality pistol for very little money is new Smith & Wesson 5943. This is all stainless 9x19mm pistol with night sights on sale now for only $599. That is gold standard to which others are compared when determining their worth. Obviously all guns with plastic frames are worth less.

It's an impressive weapon. If I had $3000+ to spare, I might give it a shot (pun intended.) Or I'd pick up a used SIG P-210 (or maybe a P-226 Xfive). The XDC 9 is probably a better carry gun.

EDC-X9-1911 a status symbol that would impress the multitudes. Its not a question of do I have the finances but rather why would I spend that much on a tool when there are other tools that within reason that also serve the purpose of a weapon at substantially less cost and are effective for self defense.

But... you're being practical, and buying a Wilson (or similar custom or semi-custom) handgun isn't about that. People drive the latest Porsche 911 could get from point A to point B just as safely in a Volvo or a big SUV, but they would be having a different experience, and the "experience" is the most important part of the trip for them. :)

EDC-X9 is a 9mm. 20c per round, vs. 40c for a .45 ACP.

Get this instead of a 1911 Springer or Ruger or RIA or whatever in .45, and 6,000 rounds later you've basically got the gun for free, and start being in the black...

Get the Wilson, or a Brown, or Guncrafter, or Nighthawk, or whatever else that is in the upper grades of working guns and that you really like.

Why cry about the purchase price of things that (if you're serious about using them...) cost more in fuel than the cost of the item itself? Get the best you can get. Get one instead of three so-so. Put it on layaway. Skip a few gallons of beer. Whatever.

Point me to the 15 round 9mm that size with a sweet SAO trigger? STI makes some nice options, but they aren't all that much cheaper, and most of the current offerings are hideous (IMO). Hi Powers are close, but ya gotta pay for a nice trigger (and for me a no snag hammer, and beaver tail, and extended safety, etc).

A SAO Sig 229 Legion could be a great option, but it does not yet exist... sadly.

Other options I missed?

This isn't a gun you buy out of necessity. I have a number of 9's with the same or greater capacity that are more than accurate enough for carry purposes. I also have a Dan Wesson Guardian 9 that is a sweet shooter and is incredibly accurate. If you're strictly being practical, it's tough to make the argument that the EDC X9 is "worth" 5 or 6 polymer 9's or that the additional 5 rounds it gives you compared to the Guardian is worth 2x the price. You buy the X9 because you've worked hard, can afford it and you believe it's the best gun for your needs. With one son having 2 years of college left, another one I've yet to put through college and retirement savings being a priority, the $3000 price tag isn't an option for me. Once my sons and retirement needs are taken care of, if I could afford it I'll definitely consider it.

You could send just about any SIG (new or used) off to Gray Guns, spending about $300-$400, and get a trigger and action job that is very nice indeed. That would give you a gun potentially as accurate and almost as smooth. Then you'd have a gun you can afford to own and shoot that is better than any FACTORY SIG (except maybe an X-Five or P-210 -- either of which would cost a LOT more, but still less than the Wilson gun!) People don't understand just how nice a Gray Guns-modified SIG can be.

Sadly that wont give me a gun THAT SIZE with a nice SAO trigger. Good, heck great gun... yes. But not what I'm wanting.

Again, if Sig made a P229 SAO I'd be with ya.
LOL we are not talking about 100k watches, 100k rifles, million dollar cars or anything out of the realm of normal every day working folk...

Id be willing to bet you're not running around in a Yugo and EDCing a Hi Point.... Yet perfectly willing to cast stones..

Practical isnt what I would call it.

That's where I was heading, scoffing at someone's purchase, calling it a status symbol and implying they are doing it wrong for buying a nice that fills a niche was buggin me.

Hey, I'm practical too, my go to 9mm is a Glock 17 and its, frankly, what I shoot best, short of a nice SAO 1911 trigger.

OP, I'd love to see some more pics of that beaut, or even a range report.

I've debated liquidating some unused rifles for one, but keep thinking I might miss this or that rifle I haven't fired in years.

They do make a P226 in SAO... How different are they, I wonder, internally.

That said, I've had a couple of SAO Sigs (A P226 X-five in .40, and a Super Match) and the safety levers never felt quite right to me. The X-five would never be a carry gun. Heavy! :)

Good question. They really aren't THAT different in size, dimensionally, but they sure feel different on my belt!

That said, I've been carrying a 229 of late with the SRT trigger and it is sufficient for carry, probably going to compete some with it to try to dial that DA first shot in, but a great SAO trigger sure makes me smile.

Folks may notice that there are some post missing from this thread.

There really isn't a need to discuss things other than what was in the OP. If you'd like to get into a discussion of other things please take it to a private conversation...or better yet, just let it go

I also have a P229 with the SRT trigger and it's definitely better than any other DA/SA trigger I have ever tried. And with the right belt and holster combination, easy to conceal carry.

The EDC X9 looks like a fine pistol and I'm sure it shoots like a dream. I'd love to shoot one. However, even if I could afford one (I can't), I can't see dropping that kind of coin for any pistol. (I reserve the right to change my mind on that, should I ever hit the lottery.)

Aside from the Hi Power holding 2 less rounds I think I would go that way. The Wilson is nice but man, that is a lot of $$$$.

Nighthawk started to make a custom SA 9mm and in the end decided to go with the Hi Power instead.

I haven't looked real close, but doesn't the Nighthawk Hi-Power cost more than the Wilson EDC X9?

I've had no issues with the 15 round mecgar mags in my hi power
