I'm thinking about sending my 870 to Wilson to get Trak-Lock Ghost Ring sights installed. Has anyone sent any guns/slides to Wilson for any work? How did it turn out?

ocabj, I have.

Sent two older 870s into Wilson to convert into ST's "FBI Model" (if you remember that, your profile sez nothing about age--I don't know if you're a geezer like me!:D). They are outstanding.

One minor error which was corrected within a week. Wilson sent one back with that silly gamer extended mag on it. It was corrected with apology.

Big Mike, last year's catalog said something like $180 or so, I can check when I get home, it's been a while since I seen it. Not even sure if I still have it.

Install Trak-Lock® Sights w/Tritium Front Insert (Bead Sight Barrel) : $140.00

Install Trak-Lock® Sights w/Tritium Front and Tritium Rear Insert (Bead Sight Barrel) : $165.00

Install Trak-Lock® Sights w/Tritium Front Sight (Rifle Sight Barrel) : $185.00

The above prices are for parts and labor. Must include extra for return shipping.

They quoted me a 3-week turnaround period. Rear sight is drilled and tapped in, and the front sight is staked and silver soldered in.

El T, siller gamer? :) I don't need to throw down the gauntlet again do I? :p

lol! This is funny! psst...El Tejon...I think Correia is jabbing ya because of the "gamer" comment ;)

I sent a new 870 to them before and would NEVER send a gun to them again. I had a lot of bad experiences with them from just this one gun. To give you the quick story, I had to wait months for the work to get done, mismatched and incorrect parts were installed, and one of the "new" parts was rusted. Here is the long story:

Any half decent local gunsmith could do the work you need.

I wanted to send my Wingmaster to Scattergun, but just never got around to it. Wound up buying a Remington 20 in barrel with rifle sights from Cabela's, and a 2 + tube from Scattergun. Put it together, and darn, its almost 'tactical'.

In actuality, the old gal shoots just fine all gussied up like that. Cost was about $130.
