Winchester 1500 XTR, 12 ga Mod. Choke, 28"

Don't see this one talked 'bout much. Got a good deal on this one "back in the day". I think I snagged it up for $150.00 "used", but I doubt it's had even a box of shells through it. One of these days... I need to take it out and see if it even shoots. When I bought it, the bead was missing... I finally got around to buying a green fiber optic bead for it about a year ago

I just sold mine to a friend the winchester 1500 XTR is a great shotgun mine was in 12 ga, it was the same thing as the 1400 winchester but had alot better finish and wood , the 12 ga I had would fire 1200 fps shotshells as fast or slow as you wanted them to fire no hicups at all, just keep it clean and its a workhorse, the only reason I sold mine , I was hounded by my friend and he liked it so much I gave in, I think they only made the 1500xtr 2 or 3 years and went to the super x verson maybe late 79 to 1982

Hey ! Thanks for the reply. I guess that's why you don't see 'em talked about very much if they weren't made for very long. Nice to hear 'bout the reliability from a fellow owner/user. Yup... the wood on mine is gorgeous, the blueing is nice too. May I ask what you sold your's for?

I bought mine for $325 and a friend of mine loved it and wanted it (long story short) he knew my grandson 10 yoa wanted a laptop computer, he had just bought a $729 sony laptop and he traded it to me for the shotgun otherwise I wouldn't have parted with it, I have seen a few they range from $250 to $379 for a nice one, they will bust some birds

Haven't had the joy of owning a Remmie scattergun yet... all mine are either Winnies or a replica thereof. Shot some fine Remmies though... mostly of the 870 variety.

Add me as a owner of a 1500...have had mine since it was given to my as a b-day present by father when I turned 13...in 1980. I carried it through many Nebraska cornfields during pheasant season and it always served me well. I plan to hold on to mine as it is still in great shape...and give it to my son (6 now) when he turns 13.

Now mine came with Winchester's Winchoke system...I still have the three original chokes (full, mod. and imp. cyl.)...along with the red carrying case and wrench. Did the 1500 come as a fixed choke model?

Congrats Adenn1... I bought mine used, it has a modified choke in it, don't know if mine originally had the others too.

I almost spent the money and bought an extra-full choke and a skeet choke...but thought why? The three chokes I have serve me well....and I can spend the money elsewhere...like on ammo.

I did not know that they only made the 1500 for a few years...now I know why I don't see many or any talk of them. I will be happy to pass mine on to the next generation.

Glad to post...funny how something like a shotgun can bring back all sorts of fond memories...stuff that I have not thought of for sometime.

I will have to go through my pictures...I believe I have pictures of me after the opening day of pheasant season when I was thirteen and had the 1500. My brother, father and I had our limit of 9 pheasants by noon and mom took a picture of us kneeling in front of the birds with our shotguns of choice...me with the 1500, my brother (who is 18 years older than I am...I was an "ooopppps when my mom was 42) with his Browning Auto-5, and my Dad with his Remington 870.

I should also have a picture of me on the Monday after opening weekend...I talked my mom into picking me up a bit early from junior high with all of my hunting stuff...she drove a few minutes out of town and dropped me off to walk some fields to hunt. She was then going to pick me up at the same point at dusk. Well, she came down the road at dusk...there I was with my 1500 and three roosters...that I got in a little more that two hours. That will be a day that I will never forget...my first time hunting by myself and my first three roosters by myself.

Got the exact same one. Owned sice 1984.
Used for hunting and competitive shooting, and won several competitions! Bieng a workhorse it is shot to pieces. Since I am in Africa I find it difficult to acquire some basic spares to keep the gun shooting - Can you assist??

If what you are asking is whether or not I'd be willing to have them shipped to me and then forward them to you... as long as there aren't any legal issues with doing so... I'd be willing to do that for you. You'd have to purchase the pieces and pay for the shipping of it all, but, if all you need is someone to relay them... sounds reasonable.

To me it is not integral gun parts and it should not be a problem!
I will pay for the parts and postage, transport, delivery whatever - I just want to get the spate bits legally to get my favourite gun back to optimal operations again.

I placed a phone call to www.midwestgunworks.com at 636-574-7300 and spoke with a gentleman there. He indicates that the reason they do not export out of country is for a couple of reasons. First... their system requires funds to be paid with USA originated instruments (credit card, checks, etc) and that "out of country" is automatically rejected. Second... they are not set up to "export". He knows of no legality issues to send the parts. Those appear to be the obstacles present for you to be able to buy/receive products from them as a vendor.
