Winchester 1911 Model 06 Pump .22

I recently inherited this rifle and was wondering how much it is worth, not trying to sell it, just looking for any information anyone has on this gun.

Looks like about 75% so about $300 or so. Win chester 06's were 'simplified' win. 1890s . They were designed with boys in mind. They are great guns. I'd avoid Stinger and other hyper ammo in it. I have one in better (90%) shape and it is worth about $450. These are about the best behind the kitchen door farm guns ever invented.

I would say one with 75% finish and a good shiny bore (very rare, due to the corrosive ammo of the day & lack of any cleaning most experienced) could easily bring well over $750 anymore.
Value is what you can get out of it.
And the prices just keep escalating!

BTW: If it is in good condition, it is safe to shoot any .22 ammo made today in it.
The John Browning designed 1890/1906/62/62A action is far stronger then need be. The 1890, which used the same action, was chambered in the more powerful .22 WRF cartridge, which was almost a .22 Magnum in it's original loading.
It has been said that the action is strong enough for the .22 Hornet center-fire, which produces more then double the pressure and bolt-thrust of the most powerful .22 LR cartridges.

I don't think that the one I have has even been fired enough to break it in. Would the value go down if i sanded the stack and refinished it? Before Firing the gun do you think I should have a gunsmith check it over?

DO NOT Sand the Stock & Refinish it!

That is the kiss of death to a gun collector!

It would instantly become just a shooter, or a parts gun, and the collector value will be cut drastically!

At the most, use some Lemon Oil to wipe it down and get the old dirt off the wood.
Use 0000 steel wool and gun oil lightly to remove any dried dirt & oil from the metal.

If:
1. The bolt locks shut with the hammer on half-cock or full cock.
2. Releases with the hammer full down.
3. And won't drop the hammer from half-cock when the trigger is pulled.

It is probably completely safe in the excellent condition you describe.

If there is any doubt, have a good gunsmith check it over.

But above all, DO NOT Sand the Stock & Refinish it!
