I have a guy offering me one of these in a straight trade but I have no idea what a gun like this is worth. He says it is in mint condition. I would not mind making the trade because I have always wanted a 30-30 but I would just like to find out a little more about this exact model.

The AE stands for angle eject as those models allow over the bore scoping and side ejection of the cases. I'm not sure, but I think the XTR is a grade rating.
The 94 was beefed up to handle some of the new cartridges introduced with that model.
There are a few on www.gunbroker.com if you want to compare prices.

Thanks NCsmitty.

I checked Auctionarms, Gunbroker, and GunsAmerica but I could not get a good feel for the pricing do to very few being listed and the ones that were listed had no "buy it now" price.

The only issues I'm aware of with the Winchesters is that the trigger is tough to adjust and the shell stops can be temperamental.

$300 - 350 seems to be the going rate these days...

XTR is the deluxe version with cut checkering, better wood and the metal was polished a little better. Not many made like that and they should bring a little more than a standard version. A standard 30-30 in very good condition is bringing $300-$350 here, but used gun prices can vary quite a bit in different regions of the country.

The 94 Big Bore was the version beefed up to handle the 375, 356 and 307 rounds. The receiver is a little thicker at the front and back, same in the middle. The 30-30's all have the same receiver.
