winchester model 12 in 12ga brush gun?

i got two guns last weekend,one is a win model 12 with a 26 inch barrel with a cyl choke, serail number is 1153988.is this a brush gun like listed in midas,s win book? eastbank.

I have heard that Winchester, factory Installed Poly-Chokes on some guns as that style of choke became popular. These barrels were all supposedly marked CYL. Yours could also be one of these, choke removed and re-beaded! Very Nice Model 12 you got there. Mine is a 28" Mod choked from 1962.

the shotgun was bought from a man who got it from his dad and he said his dad bought it new in the 50,s and that it came with out a polychoke,it should be one hell of a bird gun over dogs. bert of winchester fame said it was not called a brush gun by winchester,just a model 12 with a 26"barrel with cly choke. and i believe him. at 20-25 yards you should be just about able to point and shoot at birds and rabbits with no problems. eastbank.

I have a cyl bore 16 ga model 12 Winchester. these cyl bore guns were for quail and woodcock hunting back in the day when quail were plentiful. the were purchased just like yours with the cyl bore. in fact my gun came from a dear friend of my grandpa's, he had an identical model 12 to mine in 20ga but someone else got the 20 ga when he died. My grandpa got the 16ga from the widow, the 16ga was handed down thru my uncle to me.

you are correct these slick pumping model 12 cyl bore guns are excellent close range guns for quail, woodcock, rabbits and skeet!

Great thing about the Model 12 is it got the fastest rate of fire of any pump gun because ,,t lacks a trigger disconnect.

very nice gun and in very good condtion for its age. i love win shotguns. just got a 97 but it shows its age over a 100 yrs. but shoots just fine

The Winchester M12 is one of the finest pump shotguns made. If your shooting needs a tighter choke than the open improved cylinder it would be a good candidate for modification of the barrel to accept screw in chokes.

i,m going to try the cyl choked md 12 on ringnecks over dogs next season, i have other md 12,s and 97,s with mod and full chokes, so no choke tubes in their future. if i could pick up a md 12 in 12ga with a burst barrel in still legal lenth i would have choke tube installed. eastbank.
