Does anyone have any information (or can direct me to information) about a rifle I found listed as a Winchester Model 270, .22 LR/SR/L pump action? I can't seem to find anything very easily. I'm interested in history, reliability, etc.

Thanks!

I don't have my books at hand, but it is from the post-64 period and is, generally, not highly though of. It's one of a series along with the 190, 290, 250, 275, etc. that also included Deluxe versions. They were all a similar bunch of pumps, levers and autoloaders and I didn't like them then and don't have much good to say about them now. And they're funny looking, too. :)

OTOH, they're inexpensive and some people like them. The biggest problem seemed to be that the barrel would come loose and I have no idea where to get the wrench that is needed to tighten the barrel nut.

Don't let me discourage you. ;) You might like one if you can find it ANIB for $100 or $150.

Thank you. That's more information than I was able to find elsewhere. I'll have to swing by after work and see what kind of condition it's in. I like the idea of being able to switch between long, long rifle, and shorts in the same rifle. If the condition is right, I might try it out.
