If it has not been drilled for a scope mount these are very desirable collector guns. I have one of the prewar ones with an octagon barrel in 95% condition and have been offered $1600.00. The round barreled ones are approx 50% less than that. Mine is not for sale at any price!

It was my first gun. I used to drag it everywhere and what amazes me is that there isn't a scratch on it. Mine is a round barrel and have had it appraised at $1K to a little more. Mine is not going anywhere either

The later ones had grooves for scope mounts. If it is just a shooter,probably $400-$600. Magnum, maybe $800. If it is perfect, perhaps the prices mentioned. I have had several. The problem with Gunbroker is that you can see some very high reserves, but very little sales.

The serial number puts that as a 1936 build. Depending on the details and condition, it could be worth a lot ... or not quite a lot but still in the 800-ish range. Pre-war models like yours tend to be a little more valuable to collectors
Post some more info, caliber(S, L, LR or LR only) , barrel type (octagonal?) and condition - how much finish (blueing) is left, what is the condition of the wood.
The 61 is a fine, high quality firearm.

$600 for a 61
Friend of mine cruising the Eastman show in Atlanta today saw a model 61 which was not as nice as the (darn near NIB, 1956 build) one I bought in December.
The finish was not as good and there was a clearly visible stock repair at the wrist. Seller wanted $600 for it but it is not coming home with my bud who has a good eye for quality.

I've got a '48 model which will never leave me. No longer a beauty after my father left it semi-neglect causing some receiver pitting (He loaned it to one of his old scotch buddies whom he thought highly of.), but perfect mechanically...A shame because she is a sweet shooter.
