I was potentially looking at either the Ra9t or the Ra9t as a 9mm CCW load, but I've heard things regarding the quality control in the past. Is it still iffy, or is it good to go?

I’ve shot tons of RA9MMJHP, RA9TA, RA9124TP and RA9T from Winchester over the last 15-20 years through a variety of handguns and Mp5’s. I’ve never had an issue, nor has our office, with the 9mm SXT ammo. Our ammo supplier had issues with a couple of batches of SXT three or four years ago that had a poor crimp, but if I recall correctly that ammo was either .40 or .45 ACP SXT and not 9mm (or we would’ve sent ours back).

I did get several cases of White Box 115 FMJ 9mm with no flash holes in random cartridges, but that was 6-7 years back.

The RA9T is the 147 gr SXT at the upper-left. Our ammo supplier is a good friend of mine and he swears by it in his micro pistols and other ccw-sized guns. I also like the standard-pressure, heavier bullet loads made for the very small guns. I’m currently carrying Federal 9mm 150 gr Micro HST in my small off-duty 9mms and 127 gr +P SXT in my duty guns.

With all the great loads out there I think you will be well armed with the 147 gr SXT, or an equivalent brand/type ammo, from any of the current self defense ammo makers that are using premium self defense-oriented bullets.

Stay safe.
