I am new here (this is my first post) and I didn't know where to put this question... it is about the "functionality" of my rifle so I thought this was the forum for it... sorry if it's the wrong one.

I have a Winchester Model 722 (w/standard barrel) and my question is, can I replace the nice wooden stock with a composite one, so my dad doesn't have to worry about the thing?

And what, if any, stock would be compatable, the model 7 or 700???... I can't find any aftermarket ones for the 722, but it may just be 'cause I'm new at this gun stuff.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jeff

If you have a Remington, not a Winchester, then the 722 will fit into a 700 stock with minor work. There are lot's of Remington 700 stocks to choose from.

Thanks but, no, it's says Winchester on the stock and the barrel. So I'm pretty sure it's not a Remington brand, though it is a .222 so it shoots a Remington designed bullet. ;)

Well, you've got me. I've never seen or heard of a Win 722. But if it is a Winchester it won't work in a 700 or model 7 stock. Is the action round or flat-bottomed? George

    Ok thanks guys,

I'm Krusty's brother, and I'll tell you guys he's hit his head one too many times... blunt trauma I think you'd call it... he's been shootin' so much lately it could be shellshock too

It is indeed a Remington, but he wouldn't know that if you beat him with it... if I told him it was a Rugeremchester he'd believe me. :D

Good thing he can shoot better than he can remember...

You guys were real nice not to call him out for bein' a dumbass!

Just curious: Have you ever observed your brother when he's outside and it begins to rain?? Does he know what to do?
