Does anyone know if the SX2 and SX3 stocks are interchangeable? All I have come up with is the shims interchange with "slight modification", which I interpret as a no on the stocks being compatible.
I'm looking for a synthetic stock to replace the walnut. They seem to be scarce for the SX3's.
My gun dealer is looking into it, just thought it would be worth asking here.
The issue with the walnut stock is it doesn't have enough drop at the comb. A synthetic stock can be adjusted with shims, walnut can not.

Do you have a SX3 or a SX2? I have four walnut stocked SX3’s that came with shims and all four have shims installed. The model was discontinued around five years ago. The current basic wood stocked SX3 doesn’t come with shims but I was under the impression they can be shimmed. Midwest Gun Works sells SX2 and SX3 stocks and I know Winchester sells SX3 stocks.

I have the SX3. I bought it quite a while ago. The only shims it came with are for the butt plate to increase LOP.
I ordered shims to change the drop but they do not fit. I read that the walnut cant be shimmed for drop or cast because it could crack.
Midwest was out of SX3 stocks when I looked a couple days ago.
Hopefully my gun dealer will find something today.

I think years ago they had a problem with the rubberized coating they apply to the synthetic stocks . My SX3 is 9 years old now and when I took it out of the safe this year it was sticky to the touch , like it had soda pop on it . Then it started peeling off like little glue balls . A friend of mine that I hunt with also has a SX3 , his is 8 years old and he told me his did the same thing . Winchester told me I could send the gun back to them on my dime and they would refinish the whole gun and mail it back free of charge . They told me it could take 2 or 3 months to get it back though .

That’s weird because all of mine came with LOP spacers and DAC/DAH shims. I just went to the past products page on the Winchester website. The model I have mentions spacers but not shims, and I KNOW the info originally said this model came with shims. I would not have bought them if they didn’t come with shims. I bet(as you mentioned) there was an issue with the stocks cracking so Winchester quit offering shims on wood stocked SX3’s and retroactively changed the online marketing info on past wood stocked models. Because I know they originally did.

Hopefully you’ll find a stock soon.

I think you are correct. I thought it was adjustable when I bought it.
I had the gun quite a while before using it.
When I got around to adjusting it all that was in the box were LOP shims.

Problem solved. Traded for a new SX3 with synthetic stock.
Cost me less than it would have to buy a replacement stock, my gun dealer treats me well.
New gun is all camo, not sure what they call it. I like the walnut and gray better but form follows function.
