Really hate to say it,but my 70's Wingmaster is really starting to bite my 52 year old , arthritic arms, especially with slug loads. My gun still has the original factory pad. The Super Cell recoil pad wont fit a shotgun of my age. Your suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There are a lot of pads that can be used - you may have to have it fitted - that is ground to fit - a decent smith can do it quickly for about $30 plus the pad.

Limbsaver, Kickeez, Pachymar, among others, all will do the job.

Of course, shooting lighter loads will also help a great deal

There are grind-to-fit versions of several premium recoil pads available that can be fitted to your gun. LimbSaver, KickEez, Pachmayer Decelerator to name a few. I haven't had any luck finding a grind-to-fit version of the Supercell pad, though - they all seem to be pre-fit at this time anyway.

hth,

I have no personal experience, but I have heard you will go to hell for porting a Wingmaster barrel, even an old one.

Now that's funny! However, I happen to agree with it. Porting will just blow the ears out on the guy shooting next to you. Spend your money on ammo and practice. It will be a better long term investment than porting the barrel. Of course this is only my opinion, but that's what THR is about!

Totally off topic but I had a .338 Winchester Magnum Magnaported several years ago. The only time I shoot it is when I get that occasional irritating individual sitting at the bench next to mine. Two shots and they're history...

Under the terms of that settlement, Remington has begun to make, and will continue to make, barrels for Model 870, 1100, 11-87, 12-gauge shotguns from a different type of steel, which can withstand higher pressures.
If you understood law, you would know that means nothing in real world terms. A Pendleton muzzle brake on a Weatherby 460 is far, far more effective than any shotgun porting because of the pressures involved. In my experience shotgun porting has it's biggest effects on the minds of users and the ears of bystanders.
