While I was at my local reloading supply center today I noticed that they had a large supply of Wolf brand shells, 2 3/4 or 3 dram 1 1/8oz 8 or 9 shot for $39/case. I picked up a case, an 8lb jug of Clays, 75lbs of shot and staggered off to the car. :D

The shells look normal, they are brass based with a blue paper hull and a 6 fold crimp. The base is stamped "www.worldshot.com". Although they say 2 3/4 dram equiv. the salesperson said the recoil is closer to 3 dram shell and the 3 dram shell would "put a hurtin' on you unless you use an auto."

Anyone have any experience with these shells?

I shot a couple boxes of the Wolf shells at the local trap range yesterday. Without the aid of a patterning board I can't say what the shot patterns looked like but they did break just as many targets per round as fresh AA's and my reloads. No extraction problems or failures to report.

The supply shop was right about the recoil. The "2 3/4 dram" loads I fired kicked just a little harder than Winchester 3 dram heavy target loads.

If you can find them and have an auto or don't mind the kick, check them out as a low-cost alternative for target shooting.

-U/O out.
