15-Year-Old Burglar Dies After Being Shot By Woman

    POSTED: 6:27 am EDT August 25, 2005

LOS ANGELES -- A 15-year-old boy shot during a California burglary has died.

Police said a 59-year-old woman returned to her South Los Angeles home Tuesday morning after a walk and was confronted by a boy wielding a tire iron. She shot him with a handgun she keeps for protection. The woman wasn't hurt.

The district attorney's office will determine if the woman will face any charges.

Authorities aren't releasing the boy's name.

You can bet the New York TImes headline will read:

Another Child Murdered with a Gun
Popular, music-loving child was turning his life around from a troubled past...

    Fill in the rest.

Why would the NY Slimes print anything about this incident? It is probably not inflamatory enough for them because it took place in LA and the woamn was probably justified from what scant report we have seen.

obviously the fault should be placed on the gun manufacturer for selling the woman a device which would cause her to murder an innocent young man trying to help her with her tires.

Is it now a crime to forcibly enter someone's home while they aren't there to help them with their tires?

    I disagree.

The fault clearly lies with the manufacturer of the tire iron, as well as with the people who failed to properly secure it. If children didn't have easy access to weapons such as these, the world would be a safer place.

The State of California must immediately initiate proceedings to sue all manufacturers of tire irons.

Only cops should carry tire irons...then they could change my tires... :D

Civilans don't need tire irons. If you want to play with tire irons join the Army motor pool.

Maybe the kid can achieve 'deferred success' as a Darwin candidate. Hopefully, he hasn't made any contributions to the gene pool yet, but one never knows.

The lady is obviously a dangerous, crazed killer and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. She left her home, which presented a temptation which this poor misguided youth could not resist. She returned before this poor, lost soul could escape her murderous intent. She CARRIED A GUN WHILE OUT IN PUBLIC, for no other reason than to shoot and kill any poor misguided youth who might be tempted by the empty house she left so carelessly in view.

{/sarcasm} (in case you haven't figured that out)

That violent woman should have known better than to have a gun within reach when taking a walk. Her heart rate was elevated, and her muscles were tense, and she was probably on the verge of hyperventilating from the exercise. No one can exercise good judgement under those conditions. It is her fault for having a gun.

Thank you lady, for cleaning out the gene pool a little for us. :)

The woman is solely to blame. Had she only decided to remain in her home rather than go for a walk then that fine tire iron toting young lad would still be among us performing many more good deeds!

Thanks, Ma'am! You've possibly saved the lives of dozens of people that predator would have destroyed.

George Bush is to blame! If gas wasn't so expensive, because of the war-for-oil in Iraq, the woman would have been driving instead of walking!!!

remember--when tire irons are outlawed, only outlaws will have tire irons.
    It's a slippery slope.
guns, tire irons, then they'll be after our spatulas and flyswatters!
