I do not want to be on the range when you touch off a .50 BMG from an 18" barrel.

I got a kick out of him extolling its use as a hunting rifle. That deer was DRT, for damn sure. I do like the design though, the bolt disassembly was very simple and the recoil didn't look bad. Have fun with it and be sure to post a range report.

    18" 50 BMG??

I can see why someone gave it away as a prize.

Kinda my thought as well. Such a short tube is turning half of your energy into blast and flash. IMO, a .50 with a barrel under 26-28" is about useless (especially if it's still that heavy). At least the shorty Barrett M82 CQ has some merit as a close in heavy gun with it's semi-auto capability.

But congrats. I wouldn't have turned it down for free. I'd sell it later, but I would definitely take it.

Well... at least it will have plenty of gas to drive that brake.

Pretty cool design I think. Too bad the barrel is not longer.

Who cares...dude said he won it...seems some people always complain. If you won a million dollars...I bet some of you would complain that it wasn't 5 million.

I know I'd be pretty happy if I won a 50BMG...regardless of make and barrel length. I have the worst luck when I buy raffle tickets, so if that thing came home with me...I'd be a happy camper.

Won on Gun Broker .... Got it for under $2000. which is a darn good price ya know.
Kraus DID NOT built the rifle.
The action was build by State Arms/ East Ridge .
GeoAZ George Petrusich. built the shorty. He passed away last year and his soninlaw Dan of Hamilton & Sons Firearms, Sedona is selling it for Georges widow. George is well known for his rifles in the 50 shooters.
I am looking forward to getting it in next week and firing it up..

As for you 18" nay sayers I already have one a AMAC 50 with a 29 inch long barrel and 38 pounds. Wanted a shorty. Now i need to find a 50BMG pistol to buy..
Bet it would be pretty at night!!
soon to be me...but different Shorty

Nice looking rifle you got yourself there. I would be interested in how she shoots. Please post a range report once you get her out.

Ahh that sort of "won" huh...I had a Noreen 50BMG and it was very heavy. I sold it since I couldn't afford to feed 50BMG and 338LM. I am hoping to pick up a 50BMG down the road. They are awesome rifles.

If it's worth it to you, I guess. As I said, I'd take the thing for free. But no way I'd drop two grand on that. Different strokes, I guess.

I just don't see the use in it. Your muzzle energy is going to be down around 6,000-7,000 ft/lbs, which can be acheived using much lighter rifles and smaller cartridges that won't have the ferocious muzzle blast. And, of course, accuracy suffers when rounds go transonic, which is going to happen pretty close in with the reduced initial velocity
