hey guys i have just purchased an ar 15 A2 style but with a flat top. i have recentll came across some talk of wooden furnature on an ar. i have seen a couple stocks i did like(perticularly a thumbhole version) but wouldnt get it unless it was to match the rest of the furnature. also i have not come across any forends for the a2 made of wood; Do they exist??? pictures would be of the greatest help showing a visual representaion of what it would ACTUALLY look like as opposed to just the stock with out the rifle(what i've been coming across) but any help would be great thank you ahead of time.

Also, supposedly Ironwood Designs makes AR furniture in both maple and walnut, both A1 and A2 style, but they may not list it on their website.

It is probably a special order type of thing; price will probably be in the mid-$200's for the furniture from Ironwood.

HAHA, I kind of like it, it might keep the hippie liberals off our backs with the end of the "big-bad-black gun". But I do like my black plastic AR more.

I looked at those when I was pricing out my recent (first) AR build. I noticed that they don't have prices listed. That usually means I can't afford it...:cuss:

You assume that hippie liberals give a rat's tail about what color your gun is. Fudds are the ones that frown on certain features and colors. Hippies hate all guns.

Anyway, that thing might look good to someone, but it's not my cup of tea. What the heck kind of upper is that anyway?

It looks like one of those belt-fed .22lr uppers.

Sorry, that just doesn't work for me. :(
ARs need to be more evil looking than wooden furniture allows.

    ugly!
    haha just kidding.
the main thing is that it negates the design purpose of the AR, which is
"lighter because it's polymer, and less prone to swelling and harware error"

I'd love to have one of the Armalite AR-10 B rifles with nice, pretty wood stocks.

Yep. Wooden furniture on an AR isn't right. If you want a great looking black gun with nice wood furniture get an FAL.

Ditto the statement about an AR-10 with wood furniture: I'd love one. I'd go flat-top with a scope and/or fixed backup sight.

As for an AR15, I'd say stick with plastic. There's no benefit to the wood except ofr the appearance w/ .223, IMO. .308 semi-auto, on the other hand, could stand the weight to aid in swift follow-up shots.

They are gorgeous! I also would really like to see an A-2 foregrip in nice wood! Maybe just to dress it before I introduce my family members to it, none of them shoot so the wood may be less shocking to them than the plastic classic EBR look.

    I dunno...perhaps I'm just closed minded....not a big fan.

    Wood looks beautiful on AK-47's....

It looks more odd than Ak-47 with plastic, rails and all that stuff. Let's keep AR's black and AK's woodsy...:)

That AR-10 doesn't seem to have wood furniture... just brown plastic.

But the wood on the AR-15 looks nice.

How about black wood on an AR? Your getting wood but its still black. I didnt think that wood looked good on new style weapons until I got my blackwater 226.

Furniture on a firearm is made of brass, iron or steel.

    Not wood.

    From the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

    anachronism n:
1 : the error of placing a person or thing in a period to which he or it does not belong
2 : one that is chronologically out of place
    3 : wood furniture on an AR-15
