worth while gunshows in the southeast?

I'm in tennessee, and the local gunshows tend to be small and poorly stocked beyond the standard stuff (overpriced HK's and glocks, a very few surplus rifle sellers.. mostly just local dealers).


Are there any decent (read large, and not dominated by beanie-babies) shows in the southeast? Maybe down in atlanta or someplace up in kentucky?

As to your question. Bob Pope has a half decent gunshow now and then. I have found some good AR15 deals and have come across the occassional M1 Carbine or SIG deal.

I think the internet has pretty much taken the place of a good gunshow. It's hard to compete with some of the gunbroker deals not even considering no sales tax.

I think the next Pope show is around October 17th.

Charlotte has a pretty good one (700+ tables); next dates are Oct 9/10 and Dec 10/11.

I just moved to Nashville from Atlanta a few months ago. To tell you the truth the few shows I've been to here in Nashville pale in comparison to the size of some in the metro ATL area.

the one at the cobb county civic center was always good and the one in gwinnett at the trade center was generally freakin huge! with quite a good selection. and always lots of private sellers. lots of deals to be found at those shows.

As Cslinger said, the Bob Pope show in Smyrna is usually worth seeing. It's generally better stocked than the Bill Goodman show at the Fairgrounds in Nashville. Unfortunately the Smyrna show has dropped down to a 4 per year thing. The next one is October 16-17 then December 11-12.

i've hit the bob pope show off and on for several years. It seems to have been going down-hill since they left the i-24 expo center, just doesnt seem to draw as many vendors. I've been to the goodman show once, and was so utterly unimpressed that i've never made the trip into nashville again.


Guess i'm going to give something out in atlanta a try..
