So I was browsing gun.deals this morning & I ran across a deal for a blemished Leupold Marksman 3-9x40 scope. In all honesty I've never owned a Leupold anything & I don't really need a scope but it looked like it might be a deal. I did some research & I don't think I'm buying but it did raise the question in my mind. Would you order a scope from online that was advertised as "blemished" or do you think that would be a bad idea?

A blemished "scope"? No.

A blemished Leupold? Several times, and they're great. It's a Leupold, with the same warranty; what's not to love?

I'm a Leupold partisan. I've learned my lesson, and never buy anything with less quality and warranty than a Leupold; Vortex has disappointed me for the last time, and I can't afford Nightforce.

As long as it's still covered by manufacturer warranty absolutely.....
If it's from specific sellers like Midway or Camera Land absolutely....
If it's a good deal absolutely......
If I think that there's some possibility it will be useful in the future absolutely....

Yes i buy kinda a lot of blems....

Beware, Leupold will not fix all old scopes like they used to .They admitted my 20 year old was out of spec , they told me to buy windage rings and sent a piece of paper instructing me how to get the most from my faulty nice old gloss 3x9 . Just one true story, your mileage may vary. One other fact, I am the original owner and no replacement was offered.

One other thing to note, when buying a leupold and the price is too good to be true there is a chance it is fake . You can call leupold and they will have you send pics to verify if it's authentic or not . Folks have sent scopes in for warranty work and found out the hard way.

I don't se what the problem is if you really needed the scope, I mean the blemish doesn't stop it from function 100%. I have a few Vortex and NF scope that i bought brand new and they have wear and scratches now but they still work perfectly with no issues or whatsoever.

Yes, I would. I bought one of my Nightforce scopes from a friend for about half of the price of a new one. He knocked his rifle out of a tall deer stand and it hit a few of the rungs on the ladder. The scope picked up a few dings on the way down and my buddy said they bothered him. It tracks perfectly but it has some character!

As another poster said, yes to Leupold. It's why used Leupolds sell well. Buyers know that if anything is wrong with it, they can get it fixed or replaced for nothing.

I bought an older vx II 3-9 x40, and gave it to my SIL, after getting him an older Bushnell elite 3200, same 3 - 9 x40, both cost 150.00, he liked the Leopold better. Both real good optics, he put the Leopold on his win m 670 and transferred the Bushnell to his savage axis II.

I have purchased optics that had ring marks and other cosmetic flaws, so yes, I would.

Not a bad scope, got one on a savage axis II xp. Only issue for my eyes was that the cross hairs were too thick for target shooting. Would be decent for hunting.
I bought one too. I had good luck with Weaver scopes. Too bad they are gone. I think Natchez has a few on closeout.
