Would you buy a CMP Remington Rand for $1450

Speaking for myself, no. That's a well cared for used Ed. Brown or DW Valor or well cared for Les Bear. NO. No provenance certifying it's history. NOT every single RR made it into combat let alone theater of war. Is it a awesome cool wartime 1911 yep. Very Cool.

But it took 100 years to look that COOL!

I get that. Mark you have 1911's pick one shoot the snott out of it rub it down freakishly frequent and wd40 then rub again . In no time you to will have a worn finish cool 1911 that's got a (been there) finish. Think of all the ammo you can get to shoot in your already owned 1911.

To be honest I think your the kind of guy that would rather be able to say thats my finish wear. "I did THIS". others will see it too and know you were not playing games.

Yeah, I mean if it's something you want. I'd probably offer a little less and see if they counter. You say you're not good at haggling so I'll give you a tip:

Offer what you'd love to pay, hope they counter with a price you'd like to pay, settle for what you're willing to pay.
I would like to pay $1325 & settle for $1400! got you

I remember Gas being $.65 at Dodgers Gas & Chicken at North Myrtle Beach 1996

gizzards were more expensive than gas
I remember when I was in high school for $2.00 I could get 8 gallons of gas . I sold my father in law’s WW2 Colt 1911 he got through CMP a couple years ago for $2500.00 to a friend of mine I thought he was crazy but he had no problem with the price. I would offer him $1200.00 and see if he bites you can always come up if needed.

wish me luck boys!

The Remington Rand I bought years
ago was approximately $1200.00
less than the one in question IIRC.
I did replace the shot out barrel and
a few other pitted parts on it after
I'd had it a while.
The most trouble I've had with it
was trying to buy a new un-pitted
firing pin from a small gun shop
where the clerk/gofer refused to
sell me one unless I paid him to
install it

Not Cool of that Shop!

I paid $45 for my first one. 1960s. Had 3 over the years. As shooters, accuracy is poor. Sights are hard to see.
