Would you buy a CMP Remington Rand for $1450

I think it’s a Feild Grade CMP, so the mag won’t be original. But the Slide & Frame match
For most that's all that will matter. Unless something happens to flood the market with these, which is of course never going to happen, price people are willing to pay for these will keep going up. They are just too damn cool to handle knowing how old they are.

Good grief do you leave anything for anyone else? I was in Renton.WA a couple of weeks ago and didn't get a get a chance to stop at Pintos. If anyone happens to be in the Seattle area you should stop by Pintos Guns in Renton,Wa. Their prices are fair and they do layaway if you're shy of cash.

what’s the point of having a COOL Gun if you an’t going to shoot it.

Investment, shove your $$$$ in the S&P500 for a long term brainless gain.

1945 Gun - When Men were Men and Women were feminine! 😂 . I don’t want to be 65 with a safe full of unfired gun.

I’m going to offer $1325! what you think?
Go $1300. You can always go up if you really want it...I would shoot the heck out of that one...

One thing for the unknown is the CMP 1911 program is on hold and has been for several months due to missing pistols or a screwed up inventory. No one knows if it will restart and they are being super secret about what is really going down.

I have never wanted to have a gun I could not shoot. One time I had one of those mod29s in the wood case never fired. Drove me nuts so I had to buy a beater one to shoot waiting for someone to buy the fancy one. Still wish I had the beater. That1911should be shot.

Someone said to me that resonated

Buy a house and not live in it? why, sell it or rent it out.

here is a strange one that I’ve never seen before. It just came into my shop. A Remington ran CMP. What do you guys think?

Somebody’s trying to flip it and make a few bucks … although the LGS’s consignment percentage will cut into that.

Even assuming this one comes with proper CMP-documentation, you still could’ve bought a FG “shooter” for less than the sales tag price.

I bought a Service grade 1911A1 from the CMP last year. It was a RR slide on a 1941 Colt frame. The slide finish is worn like the one you are looking at and the frame had been reparked somewhere along the way. It shoots pretty good (it came with a replacement barrel, as most of the CMP pistols do). Yeah, the sites are small but who cares. I am not going to shoot bullseye with it nor am I going to carry it for self defense. It's fun to have and to shoot.

If I wanted a CMP 45 and didn't want to go through the CMP to get one, that might be the one to buy. At least you get to hold it in your hands prior to purchase as opposed to Gunbroker or some other on line market place. colt one.jpeg

I don’t see full complete CMP 1945 1911’s in the wild EVER. And I don’t buy online, kinda want to touch before buy. Looks cool too

I don’t buy online with the fees and transfer and such. and I do like to examine the gun 1st before pulling the trigger.

The CMP RR at my shop, is complete with hard case + paperwork. What I LOVE about it, the Slide & Frame matches and it was not Re-Finished.

Its gonna need decent sights, a beavertail and a new finish but it has potential.

It honestly looks to be in reasonable shape, I can't tell if it has the original finish but it might be given the lack of arsenal marks. Its a very late production frame with a late production, blanchard-ground slide that look to be correct to each other, which is a big plus. If you can see bare metal in the serial number stamps, the crossed cannon mark on the rear right frame, and the inspectors stamp, I'd pay that for it.
I suspect from the appearance that the slide was repark'd but the frame wasn't. Even if thats so, at least the frame and slide look to be correct to each other even if not original.
From appearances alone its worth the asking price, and if all parts are correct its worth more, and if all parts are original its worth a lot more.
Original finish, original parts guns are a big deal, even if the finish is worn. So many didn't stay together through 50 years of re-arsenals and mass disassembly group cleanings.

Magazine is a much later Vietnam-era production

Looking for marks from my photos

On second look, I suspect the slide to be original finish too. The blanchard marks usually didn't survive the blasting/repark process still looking so prominant.

I will say, the one I owned was made June 11th, 1945 I believe, and was RR serial no. 2,436,005. The one you are looking at is very late production, even after the one I owned.
