Would you make this trade?

Due to lack of funds I am unable to buy a new firearm anytime in the foreseable future. So I started to think that maybe I'll do a trade with something I don't use all that often to see what I can get in return. For those of you that do not live in MA or are not aware of our gun laws, the trade fodder I decided upon is semi hard to get and you pay a premium for it.

I decided to trade my IMI Desert Eagle Mark I in 357 Mag that has been sitting around my safe not doing a whole lot. In MA these will go for around $1200. I put it up on a local forum for trade and got some interesting responses.

One guy offered a trade with the following items:
1. Colt 1991a1 with Original Mat Black Finish, Over-sized magazine well, Match trigger full length guide rod, Skeletons hammer, over-sized grip safety, over-sized beaver tail (because frame need to be cut out for the beavertail it is the only thing that can not be reversed) Rubber full fingered grip Houge, Rubber factory grips and Milit Adjustable rear sight.
2. Browning Buckmark Pro-Target with box and two mags
3. Saiga semi auto rifle in 308 w/ russian 4x32 scope (Scope will fit my SAR-1 as well)
4. S&W 4516-2 w/ 5 mags

Another guy is offering a S&W 1911 DK w/ 4 mags and ammo.

There are other, but these two offers are the only ones I'm considering at this point. To me they both seem like a good deal, but the 4 guns for one offer seem like a good for me. Don't know a lot about the 1991 though. I'm reading mixed reviews. Either people love them or hate them. No middle ground. Same can be said for the 4615-2

What do you think? Trade for one of these options or keep looking?

I'd trade with the first guy. If you are sure you won't be missing the DE. In the future you could get the other caliber bbls for it.

I have a 4516, and it's probably my favorite carry gun. I also have a titanium .38, a Kimber 1911, and an XD45, if that gives you some perspective.

I don't now about the 1991, but the Buckmark is a decent addition to your arsenal. I wouldn't touch the Saiga, but I might be a bit of a snob.

If it's a full-blown DK, in decent condition, the S&W is a fair trade for your DE. I'd much rather have the DK than the DE, but, again, that's just me.

I think you can't go wrong with either trade. In my opinion, you get your money's worth from the 4516 and the Buckmark, and sell the 1991 and the Saiga to pay for ammo.

You seem to want guns just to have guns. Why not wait for something you really want rather than get something just to be getting something. Sit on that DE until something that really catches your eye pops up.

Take the first. It is worth more than your gun. You can alwasy sell of pcs. of your trade and gest some cash out of it.

Dremel marks? Anyplace in particular I should look for them? Just to make sure I don't miss something.

As to the trade itself, this first and second option is what caught my eye. Got a lot of trade offers, but only a few caught my interest.

I'm just trying to point out that you are not describing a stock Colt 1911a1 but one that has had extensive modifications made to it. Just make sure that it was done by a real gunsmith or competent person, -not something that has been "bubba'd". If that much was done to the externals, you need to be careful that the insides (trigger group, barrel ramp, slide/frame, etc.) wasn't butchered.

If the "deal" appears to be to good ... it probably isn't. 1991-A1's are OK, but used (in my part of the world) your talking a $400 +/- piece if it is in top condition. The other stuff ... work up a realistic price for each then add them up and if there is a large difference in "value" ... examine the deal (and items offered) very closely.

Um dont trade the gun for anything worth less than $1000 or gun and cash for...... IMO you are better off selling it and buying another gun you really want.

Don't trade. Period. Bored? Do some yard work or something nice for an old person. If you trade your perfectly good gun, that at one time couldn't put down because it cured your "jones" for a nice piece, you will regret it. Without a doubt. You will look at anything you traded for and think of only the love you lost. Trust me. Take the DE out for a shoot and polish, have a beer and watch a war movie. Save up for your next gun, which you will appreciate more than you would, if you gave up your other gun for.

Go with the first offer in a hurry, I'm a trader and that list of arms is worth well more than your DE. By about $400. Plus man look at all the neat toys you get to play with, take apart etc.

I agree with a few of the other posters. Don't trade. Keep all of your guns and buy more. I've never sold or traded a gun and have no plans to unless something crazy happened financially. "But I only have two guns..honest"

If that much was done to the externals

as the OP said , only the beavertail can't be reversed ( easily anyways ) everything else is pretty much a replacement part.
Check the fit of the beavertail close , and make sure the grip safety still works , if the beavertail is sloppy , that is indicative of the rest of the work most likely.

If it were me I would trade if for package #1. ( then I would sell the Saiga and S&W and buy ammo ! )

Ask yourself , if I sold it , what would I buy with the money ? If none of the ones offered would be on the list , then pass , sell it and buy what you want.
