Would you migrate to another state?

Never thought I would need to but after this in NY I have had to rethink. If Florida ever went that way I believe I would.

Idoono

Yes, I would.

I was out of work for a short time a few years ago. It was long enough that I started applying to jobs in other states. I did not apply for jobs in California, New York, etc. I had lots of interest from CA, but wouldn't do it.

I would move if I needed to...

I gave on several occasion to the goups that were fighting to get the State Pre-emption laws passed here, which overturned a lot of City gun laws, which did not respect the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution, or the Right in the Ohio Constitution. We have both here. (Many other states do as well, not all)

I agree with Sam. We'll have to see what they come up with, and the response from the American people.

That said, - if my state were to make the kind of gun laws like they enacted in NY, I would be outta here. Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah are all possibilities.

As long as the state reps don't completely legislate to the lowest common denominator over in Detoilet, I'm good right where I am.

Michigan has a few stupid gun laws, hand gun registration and expensive CPL fees ($105, good for 5 years, same renewal fee I believe), but so far, no magazine limits, most of the NFA is legal here, and the state is primarily controlled by the GOP. We have a Governor that is wishy washy on gun control, but has vetoed and passed mostly favorable gun laws so far. He's kicked the unions in the butt with spiked toed boots, and a few other things I approve of.

But if that happens to change... I can take my skills and move anywhere in the country.

On the list would be Kentucky, (where I grew up) Alaska, Texas, Utah, Arizona, maybe Indiana, maybe Idaho.

Already have...

I had every intention of growing old and dying in San Diego county after retiring from the Army. By 1999 I had realized that it was simply not an option since I had become the poster child "don't" boy for so many issues held near and dear to the likes of bozstein and their supporters.

Color me Apache County!

I grew up in PA. When I bought my first handgun, a Ruger Single Six, and had to wait before taking possession, I was really, really offended. I was in college at the time, and transferred to a school in Utah and never looked back. Now I live in ID. If you can find a decent job, it is an outstanding place to live. Shall issue CCW, no NFA restrictions, no waiting periods, no gun laws not federally mandated.

The feds shoved wolves down our collective throats 20 years ago. Predictably, they multiplied to the point where we had to start hunting them. After a few years of hunting, the feds caved to a bunnyhiugger lawsuit and cancelled the hunting season. After months of fruitless negotiations, the governor got on the radio and announced that the Canadian Gray Wolf was a clear and present danger to the wildlife of the state of Idaho. He enjoined all state employees from enforcing any laws regarding wolves. The feds caved and now we can hunt them again. If the feds try to violate the second amendment, I would bet our governor again enjoins state employees from enforcing them.

There are many States that I would refuse to live in because of their gun laws. If New Mexico became like CA, NY or IL then I would seek another State to live in.

I am half way to Northern Idaho for the duration...

I'm in a pretty decent last ditch/fall back position with regard to North Idaho as well. I'm currently a WA res, and derive most of my income from the state (WA is generally quite pro-gun, but very blue), but the border-and much of my recreation-is a short drive away. I don't foresee it, but if worst came to worse and the choice was between #1 give up my lawful private posessions #2 become a felon by default or #3 move, I'd just slip across the border into the pure land and eat the daily commute.

I don't think I have to worry about it anytime soon while here in SC. Unfortunately, I think NC and GA would go before us, but if they didn't, I can move into either state and only increase my commute by about 20-30 minutes. :scrutiny:

For most in Chicagoland, Indiana is not far away and is far more gun-friendly than Illinois is. At least that's the impression I get from Indiana. Can't be much worse than Illinois. Besides NY now.

:banghead:

Already have. Stationed in Montana while serving in the military, really liked it here. Tried moving back to CA afterwards, just didn't work out.

Barring the unforseen, we are here permanently.

Planning for an eventual move from the "Vampire" State". The taxes are so darn high here and now these onerous gun laws. Getting the firearms out of Dodge first and then I'll follow. PA is first on the list but will go west or south if necessary!

Funny, we slip across the border to go to dinner and shopping. Thankfully, the Cabelas now has it's own exit. Very pretty country.

I took that new Cabelas exit for the first time just a few weeks ago! About time they finished that road to nowhere. Makes it way more convenient to nip in there on the spur of the moment and hemorrhage some money...

:D

You ever swing by CTS in Post Falls for some shooting?

@ OpelBlitz - Montana, Wyoming and Idaho are all worth checking out. Lots of variety in scenery, many outdoor sports opportunities, and generally friendly people.

@ Alaska444 - You must be somwhere around CdA, pretty nice area. Spent some time there over the years, lots to do in the area.

I live in Oklahoma now, where all 77 counties voted against Obama in the last election. So much for any federal aid, but we're used to it. Although we tend to hate Texans for football reasons, they tend to rebel against the feds more than other states & will be your best haven. Arizona, and we also have favorable gun laws. It gets hot, but we're "neighborly".

From Oklahoma as well, just passed the open carry. God, guns and chicken fried steak. Spring weather in 'Tornado Alley' can get a little dicey, but the folks sure are nice.

I got my CCW class at CTS.:D

Haven't been shooting over there in over a year, maybe longer but can't get any better than CTS. No wonder it was the Shot Show best range in the whole US in 2010.

I am so close to CDA that I think I actually live here, actually I do. Great place, we love it here. It reminds me a bit of Anchorage where I grew up in Alaska except that is for the mosquitoes up there.

Glad the Lord has opened the door for us to stay here. ;)

I opted for early retirement and escaped mexifornia in favor of Arizona ten years ago. CA's gun restrictions were actually only my second reason after cost of living.
