Maybe there is hope for .22LR ammo. I actually found ammo, in stock, on sale in a store. First time in years I've been able to find it in a store. I'm stocking up my supply while i can. I was starting to wonder if the .22LR would die out for lack of ammo a availability. This is a good sign!

I think it's gonna be a good day! :D

Seems like the craze has blown over. Sucks for those people that stockpiled hoping to sell and gouge others.

I went back and bought another 325 round pack of the federal.
Can't beat it at 6 cents a round.

By the way, anyone ever use Federal AutoMatch .22LR ammo? Box says 40 grain solid, 1200 fps, claims to be target grade accuracy and optimized for semi-autos. I've not seen it before today.

I didn't know people are still having a hard time finding it. I see it in stock at the local Cabela's once or twice a week, consistently. I guess it helps that I actually GO there once or twice a week, consistently... :p

Little by little and round by round it seems to be returning to retail store shelves in larger quantities than we have seen for awhile. For the most part I believe those who were caught short this last fiasco have a good stock now and are ready for any future fiasco, tis indeed a fragile supply line. Hopefully those caught short or those who were new shooters are coming away a little wiser and better stocked.

Finally, why is this in Rifle Country? :)

I see Remington subsonic and golden bullet and CCI Mini Mags in every lgs, big box I just see CCI Standard Velocity.

While it's nice to see .22 available, it's not $20 a brick anymore, which I can understand due to inflation and rising costs of manufacturing, transportation, etc. The other thing is that you can find the popular, streamline .22 lr, but you want good quality hyper velocity or subsonic .22, you're better off trying to make it yourself.

probably because it's called .22 Long RIFLE, not .22 Long Pistol. :p

Fremmer, I use federal automatch

it's what I occasionally find in my walmart. I get stovepipes not uncommonly with my ruger mark 2 pistol but I overall like it as I have it.

It's dud rate is not too bad . Can't remember a whole lot of duds but then again I'm no longer shooting 22 lr I brick per outing.

Interesting, here in Texas. I have been buying 22LR for months now on demand. CCI, Mini Mag, anything I wanted really. Walked in to the store I always go to, it is always on the shelf. Just bought some 2 days ago.

Then why not share the store? Others in your area may not be aware of it.

Funny that is exactly what my local Dick's Sporting Goods had on the shelf. The AutoMatch was $0.06 per round and the Remington was $0.10 per round. This store does have a rather strict policy of one box of any size per person per day. When I talked to the guy at the gun counter he said they get it in every other Monday and they don't normally run out between shipments. I bought 3 boxes of the AutoMatch, I may go back for a box of the Remington just to have another brand to try in my new Marlin XT-22 rifle.

Have shot quite a bit of Federal Automatch and while not up to the accuracy and consistency of CCI MiniMags, it makes for decent practice ammo in my semi-autos.

federal auto match is my go- to plinking ammo.
my 22/45 shoots much tighter groups with more expensive standard velocity so i use that for serious work, but i always have cans to shoot.
i think it's the best of the bulk ammo.

Thanks for the opinions on the AutoMatch. We'll see how it shoots in the buckmark and the marlin. Nice to actually find ammo at a reasonable price.

Excellent! Did you buy every last box you could? If not, good on you! That's one of the biggest problems that caused this whole mess to begin with, people finding pockets of .22 ammo on the shelf and buying all of it.

The only thing I'm buying are Minimags, Stinger, and any similar rounds when I can find them. My local Academy usually has them at least once a month.

Nah, I didn't buy all of it. There were quite a few still for sale. I couldn't afford to buy more even if I wanted to. So the store had plenty left. I try and buy a little bit each pay period. 750 rounds is plenty this time. :)

I went to a small outdoor sportsman's show yesterday and you
could have all you wanted for $60 a brick. I was at Cabela's
and a local gun shop last week and they only had sleeves for
sale. I didn't ask for the price. I want to buy, by the brick.

Seems like the craze has blown over.

Don't proclaim victory quite yet.

A year ago the local Wally had .22 ammo of some sort continuously for several months.
I thought the drought was over
Now? It's been about 6 months without.

A local chain of stores called "FleetFarm" hasn't had any .22 for over 2 years.
(and they're a hunting/fishing/lumber/farm supply store)

The problem here is you fail to mention manufacturer and part number? $60 a brick is a rip off unless the brick is Norma or other match grade ammunition, all comes down to what the stuff is? So at $60 a brick it can be way overpriced, way under priced and maybe just right. If a price isn't tied to a manufacturer and model number it really doesn't mean much.

They opened a Sportsman's warehouse nearby last weekend, and they had Remington 525 golden bullet 22lr bricks on sale for 29.99. Seemed to have plenty on hand, as I went late in the afternoon and they were still well stocked. Did limit it to one brick per person though.
