Well, I did it- put a CMP mount and Leopold 2.5 scout scope on the Garand. Windy today , but a few hasty eight shot groups showed the smallest at about 1" with two flyers, to the largest at 2 1/4" all inclusive. This is down from a best of about 2 1/2", and a usual of 3"- 3 1/2" or so with iron sights. All shot with HXP surplus. I can reliably whack little broken pieces of clay pigeon at 100 yards from a rest! YEE HAA!! The rifle is basically stock, has a trigger job and gas tube stake, and some shimming to tighten the stock fit.
The downside? Weight- this adds about two pounds.(at a guess)
