So I head into the woods at 3:30 today after not getting anything all season (The season closes tomorrow Nov. 29) hoping and praying for something. Well, after being out for about an hour working my bleat I hear something in the woods behind me so I turn around, There is a button buck right behind me about 30 yards. Well, I wait for a second and see a 6 point buck with it, So I put the ole' .30-30 up and put my sights on it and right as I'm about to pull the trigger It takes off and runs just as my finger jerks back. So I suppose I can just go out tomorrow and wait ALL day from dawn to dusk because I have a good feeling I can't go all day without seeing one. Either that or I'll head back to the spot where I saw the other two at about 2:00 and hope they come back.

    Hi Marlin95...

May not be a basketrack but it's still a fine looking buck. Looks pretty healthy - What was the weight ?

Ty... stuff happens - more often than it should, but hang in there. One minute you can be staring at the same old Nuthin you've been watching all day and the next moment there is a good buck just begging you to add him to the meat-pole.

    Good Luck !

Have you ever been outside during deer season in VA on a Sunday?

I hear more shots on Sundays than on Saturdays.

Bang Bang, we are sighting in our rifles for the next week. (wink, wink) Really though, I know what you mean. I myself have never had the nerve to go on a sunday. I keep seeing a lot of people from VA saying their hunting season ends within a few days. As far as I know here in Central VA we have untill Jan 3rd for deer.
