So there's been a bit of a hullabaloo over on the Glock Talk Kahr forum about this little marketing animation for the P45 that Glock has on their web site.

Wow! Talk about missing your mark (no pun intended)

Generally, I don't get too excited about this type of stuff, but that was definately in poor taste, even for a Glock hater like myself. :barf:

Ridiculous and offensive. Their marketing needs serious rethinking.

And yeah, I'm not a Glock fan either.

That's not advertising. That is propoganda. And I must say it is pretty pathetic even for that. I know any interest I had in Kahr for CCW choice just went buy buy with the Super Nazi...

I agree, it's like something a 12 year old kid would come up with. Very bad taste. I was thinking about getting one of those P45's too :(

    Stupid, but...

Absolutely distateful and pointless, I agree. However, as a Kahr owner, I have to say it is one of the nicest and most reliable handguns I have ever owned. I have the CW9, and it is really nice for concealed carry.

Just don't let a stupid marketing video stop you from trying a gun that you may benefit from having.

    Pretty good

Perhaps it's meant to be tastless?

I like the little bubba critter.

You guys will forget about this in a week anyways (like most good Americans), and still buy the P45 if it suits your fancy.

That was so stupid on so many levels it's hard to begin tearing it apart. During World War II, many years before either gun was designed, we have a GERMAN Nazi, armed with an Austrian Glock, get shot by a dog with a gun, while made in America, by a company associated with a KOREAN religous cult. Plus a bunch of American soldiers get massacred. Tasteless and just stupid.

I think Silent Bob pretty much summed it all up.

My question is, "who at Kahr thought this was a good idea?!?"

send your complaints to kahr's marketing and sales

    Dear Mr. Harris,

I find your flash animation "bubba's revenge" to be in remarkably bad taste on a number of levels. I own Kahr steel framed pistols and I consider them to be fine firearms but I carry a Glock everyday. I was seriously thinking about buying one of your short barreled thompsons through my local dealer but I doubt that I will now. I can't understand how you could possibly think that this was a good way to represent your company and it's values. While you may think that the animation is cute, hip or "funny", I am not alone in the opinion of its misplaced negative characterizations. This animation is an embarrassment to your company and to the people who have bought your products in the past and to gun owners everywhere.

    Sincerely,

    Dominic Bosco

Justin Moon is an Engineering geek ... I imagine it was someone he hired to do marketing that thought it up.

And as for "who owns Kahr now", Justin Moon invented the Kahr pistol and started the company ... the moonies didn't swindle the company away from some poor upstanding Christian.

Guys, lets keep the religion comments out of this. Religion arguments are good way to get threads locked.

It is still a stupid ad. :)

And actually, it is more of a Glock ad if you think about it.

Okay, so Gaston Glock (I'm assuming that is who it is) travels back in time, and his pistol is so good that he manages to wipe out an entire unit of Americans armed with Tommy Guns (built by Auto Ordnance no less!). Dang. Got to get me one of those Blocks... err... Glocks.

That was the most moronic piece of "marketing" I've ever seen.

The Austrians were just as strong, in some cases, stronger supporters of the National Socialist movement as the Germans. They have gotten a nice pass because Austria is a nice sounding country that sells clocks and chocolate, but the Nazi cause was embraced by a great many in Austria.

Of course, that was more than 60 years ago and times have changed. As to the animation, it was cheesy, in bad taste, and of no value save for one who is practicing his 1st Ammendment rights.

I suppose it says that Gaston was or is a Nazi. While that may certainly be possible, as a lad he might have been. Of course, he might have been covertly saving the lives of hundreds of Jews. I know not the answer.

KaceCoyote, you are correct in that Glock is Austrian and not German. HOWEVER, the stupid little flash animation takes place BEFORE the end of WWII when Austria was part of Germany, having been annexed in 1938. Plus, Hitler was Austrian and he was dictator of Germany. Note that there is no claim anywhere that Glock is German.

Of course, if you are going to belabor the facts, neither Glock or Kahr pistols were around during WWII. Plus, Bubba is apparently a sadistic puss for letting his fellow Americans be wiped out. This would not be in proper character for a bubba. Bubbas may not be terribly bright, but they are loyal and patriotic.

The most ridiculous part of the advertisement campaign for the P45 is that they haven't even started shipping them yet.

I am not a fan of Glocks. I am not a fan of Kahr's plastic guns. I am a huge fan of the all steel Kahrs however. I think the K-9 is the very best single stack 9mm EVER made for CCW. It is without question, I fine handgun.

Now, about this ad. Why do all the Americans have to die? That seems strange to me. Why did the Americans look like dirt bags and the Nazi look like a stud? Nothing is an accident. :scrutiny:

The good news is, I won't let it ruin my life. :D It is just a stupid ad that some moron thought would appeal to dumb Americans. Isn't that what all ads are? Some work, some don't. If you want to be really insulted, try watching a beer commercial sometime.

Anyway, who cares? I am more interested in the range reports of the new gun than anything else.
