It could also be a zb26, and she, thereore, could be Czech.

Do we have anyone here who can say for certain which of the variants of this gun "pattern" the one pictured is?

EDIT: I just looked at the photo again and noticed the sign at the right edge of the frame, PLAINLY written in ENGLISH. Boo, me!

(further comments, such as the one above and mine below, are likely going to be directed at both the woman and the gun).

Sure like to have that next to me when I sleep.

Yes, she is indeed the Bren Girl.

Much more cultured than the Breck girl.

Not a ZB26 (even if the picture didn't have the English sign), note the curved magazine to accommodate the rimmed 303 cartridge. The ZB26 chambered for the 7.92x57 had a straight mag.

Hope the young lady didn't develop anything bad from her smoking, a British version of Rosie the riveter.

Thanks Gents for all the Info.....I just got the photo from Google Images when searching for Bren Gun.

The Bren was the second most exciting gun I ever fired. The best of course being the 25 Pdr Field Gun. (Especially in the anti-tank roll.).

Cool! I stumbled across the Inglis factory site a couple of years ago and hadn't seen this one. Surprising considering I'm a BHP nut.

Thanks in large part to the women in these photos and all our mothers/grandmothers that stepped up to the war effort on the shop and factory floor we were able to win WWII ("we" being the Allies). Next time you wish you had remembered to ask Grandpa what he did during WWII remember to ask Grandma as well. She might have made the weapon he had carried.

I asked mom what she did during WWII while dad was fightin'.

"Honey I dismantled bombs in Dothan, AL." If you knew my mom you would never belive she would do something like that. One, no disrespect intended, but she has no mechanical aptitude. Two, she is, and was, often thought of as what we would call a "ditz" today.

In response to the OP and the first post:

Holy Crap, there's a gun in that picture?

I couldn't take my eyes off the babe. :D

The ZB-26 also has a gas system that runs almost the full length of the barrel. That's definitely a Bren in the photo.

The Bren was my Dad's favorite when he was serving in the British Army back in the 1950s. He has a soft-spot for the No.4 Lee Enfield, too, but the Bren will always be #1.
