I was lucky enough to run across a WWII 1911A1 many years ago very cheap. It's retains 95% of it's parkerization and it better than average condition. The serial # puts it's manufacture date around April of 1945. I tucked it away and have not fired any ammo through it. I have had people tell me it will decrease it's value by shooting it. How many of you occasionally shoot your collector guns and will shooting it decrease it's value?

I won't own a gun I don't shoot.
I have a WWII Remington Rand dated 1943.
It's shot at least 6 times a year and about 100 rounds shot each time.
My grand daughter will get it when I'm gone.
I don't own guns for their investment value.

Far more guns are ruined by lack of proper cleaning / storage, and kitchen table gun-smithing, then are ruined by shooting them.

Your gun has apparently already been fired somewhat before you got it.
So it isn't in "NRA Unfired Condition" which is what a collector would really pay top dollar for.

I wouldn't use it for USPSA Competition every weekend, but an occasional trip to the range isn't going to hurt it's value any if kept within reason.

Thanks, That's kind of what I throught. I'm not going to put 1000 rounds a month though it, but 50 rounds ever couple of months at the range would give me so much pleasure

That's what it's all about. Even if it did depreciate, getting enjoyment is more important sometimes.
