does the VH stand for Varmint, Heavy barrel?? I have heard nothing bad about the 7 series bolt actions, economically priced and good performers.

I have the XS7 in .243 been wanting to get my hands on the new X7VH in .223 but they have been getting mixed reviews since the remlin merger. My pre merge XS7 is awesome I love it

I just bought a Kentucky made XS7 Stainless in 7mm-08 last week. The only guns the shop had on the rack were stainless models and they all suffered some finish problems. Mine has several light scratches on the barrel, one long one from the barrel nut wrench being dragged over it. The .308 Win. they had on the rack had a very poor stock fit. These are the kinds of issues that were supposedly less frequent when production was still in New Haven, CT. I am still in love with the value and design quality of the X7 and thats why I overlooked those issues.

The X7VH in .308 and .22-250 have been bringing in pretty good accuracy results over on the Marlin Shooters forum.

I have the XS7 in .243. Once I found out what it likes (IMR-4350 powder and Hornady 58gr V-Max bullets) it shoots bug holes at 100 yrds. I just got a X7VH in .22-250 last week. Hopefully I'll get it to the range this weekend.
