Well, I'm conflicted. XD trigger is heavier, the G34's 3.5 trigger is Oh so sweet. They both point natural for me, which is weird given the different grip angle. If you've shot both, let me know what you think..(trigger, accuracy, etc)

XD cheerleaders need not reply, unless they have more to say then "XD RULZ!:)

Having owned both XD's and Glocks, I would definitely go for the Glock 34.

The 34 is just an awesome weapon, it's got a very good trigger, is plenty accurate and handles wonderfully.

I've got 2-G17, 1-G19, 1-G26 and 1-G30; a Glock 20, 21 and possibly a 34 are future acquisitions.

Good luck on your decision,

STeve

Yeah,

I really was leaning towards the XD until I felt that trigger on the G34. Didn't fire it, the LGS told me to dry fire it, which I did.

Have both, prefer the XD9 Tac due to trigger feel. The G34 is quite accurate if I take my time but any faster than 1 shot / second and I'm all over. Despite being ~3.5 lbs, the Glock trigger is still just too mushy for me.

sooo

so you think the Xd trigger has a cleaner, more predictable break?

The glock 34 is the best shooting glock by far. I installed an aluminum trigger on mine and with the 3.5 lbsconnector (stock from the factory), the trigger is not only clean but very light. This gun has very little recoil and sits much lower in the hands than the xd does... this causes the gun to be much more pointable and controllable than the xd in my opinion.

The only thing I dont like about the 34 is the factory adjustable sights. These are terrible. I quickly changed mine to some steel sights from the glock store and couldn't be happier. This is an exceptional gun and super accurate.

I own some high end 1911s and Ive found this gun to be almost as accurate as some of them. I think this is because these guns are so 'shootable' that they are on par with 1911s, for me at least.

If you take a 34 with a bar s. barrel, youve got a nice match grade 9mm.

One other thing about the XD.. everyone Ive ever picked up had a spongy trigger. Ild rather have a clean 8lbs trigger than a mushy 4lbs trigger. Although the xd trigger pull is light, it is anything but clean.

xd pwns BLOCK!

Actually, even with the 34's 3.5# connector, the xdtac is still probably more crisp. The biggest advantage xd has over GLOCK is in .45acp (grip thinness), not so much in 9mm. Even with the better trigger, the GLOCK is the superior design imo. No firing pin/chamber indicatorS :barf: , trigger is the one and only operative control (pulling trigger is necessary & sufficient for GLOCK to fire, not so w/XD). PRefer the captured recoil spring of GLOCK.

Trigger, looks, f&f with xdtac vs 34 I'd give the edge to xd. SO NICE. Reliability/accuracy probably a wash. Reliability over longterm durability advantage GLOCK. One year on the right finish is a bit late in the game.

Get a G34. It's a WINNER. Go for an XD45tac sometime down the road. Each platform chambered in the caliber they are maximized in imo.

Probably can't go wrong with either though.

I own an XD9 and a G35. I probably wont buy an XD again. The trigger on my XD is mushy and takes longer to reset. I dont see the need for a gun to have all the extra safeties if you practice the 4 golden rules. The Glock is definitely the way to go. Also their are quite a bit more parts and accessories available to the Glock.

I was given a HS2000 years ago to shoot in IDPA matches. Same gun as the XD. SA just tacked on another $150 worth of profit.
The XD points well, but has a couple of things I don't like. One XDs are usually not as accurate as Glocks. Secondly you cannot buy parts for them. That alone kills my buying one.
The thing that bothers me the most is the slide release sits right under my thumb. I never could get the slide to lock back during a match.
Glock triggers can be made as light as 1 lb or made to feel almost like a 1911 trigger. You can buy every single part in a Glock with the exception of the frame.

I have shot both in USPSA Production Division and I would easily choose the Glock 34 over the XD.

1. Replacement parts are easier to come by
2. Easier to disassemble completely.
3. Lower bore axis and less muzzle flip.
4. Greater variety of aftermarket parts/enhancements
5. Glock supports shooting sports with GSSF. If you're good enough, you can win a Glock. I have won 2.
6. Tenifer finish

I guess that sums up my reasons. Hope this helps

See www.dawsonprecision.com (great sights, magwell)
also www.triggerkit.com (fantastic drop in trigger for the Glock)

For me, yes, slightly more so. Not break like glass crispness but I can feel a definite point where I know it will let the striker go. You may not feel it at first but after a while when accustomed to the trigger, you should be able to find that point. My G34's trigger is the same pull weight all the way through like a DA revolver which is what the design it meant to feel like. I simply prefer a SA-type point of break.

Yeah I'd agree w/XD having cleaner break... but I'd still take the 34 any day.

Plus, I don't know exactly how to phrase this, as counterintuitive as it sounds (regarding "predictable" or not trigger- maybe not the right word), but sometimes it's good to let the break "surprise" you. That little smudge at the end of glock is actually something i like. Hard to explain.

There are benefits to the Glock trigger that could help your shooting in other aspects. The Glock, as jlh alludes to, forces you to be absolutely steady throughout the trigger's travel as you aren't absolutely sure when it'll go off. With practice, it'll make your hold more steady when shooting the Glock or any other handgun. This, in general, is a good thing.

Personally, though, I like to know when exactly the hammer/striker will let go.

Since I already have a G17 with a 34 connector in it, I would go to the 34. All my holsters, and stuff would fit. However, if you offered me a XD 45acp verse the glock version..... Believe i'd go with the XD45.....

all very solid comments

with pro's on each side. Leaning glock but it sounds like I'm solid no matter which I choose. That........is not a bad thing!

You can read my brief thoughts on the subject. (I had to record them once so I could link to them whenever this question came up.)

If the G34 is easy for you to shoot, I'd go with that. At that point, I would just get over my dislike of dry-firing the Glock trigger since there are some other things with the XD I don't like.

While the XD trigger does have a longer reset, I personally don't find that a problem. But that's just me.

For those who would like a shorter XD trigger, shortening the trigger pull on XD's is one of the things the Springfield custom shop does so it that's all that bothers a person, then it's easily "fixed".

After shooting my XD's for a while, I'm quite used to the trigger feel and my wife especially likes the light trigger pull on them.

Life is short, get both the XD and the Glock.
