Today I bent my extractor during removal for cleaning. My gun still runs good but I thought I would pick up an extra extractor for my extra parts bag. I can not find one. Any suggestions

XDM Bent Extractor

XDM Bent Extractor

While cleaning my XDM I removed my extractor to clean it because I had ran several thousand rounds through it. Well I bent the extractor, not real bad but still I can see it is bent. I posted in the gun smith side of this form asking for ideals since no one online sells them. I got a reply that said call Springfield. That is just what I did and talked to Trish in customer service. She told me that Springfield will not release extractors and that I would need to send in my gun and they would replace the extractor for $18 plus shipping.
I can get hundreds of EOM parts and aftermarket parts why not an extractor? The customer service lady was very nice but no matter what I said she would not send me an extractor. Let me make it clear I bent the part and I am not asking for Springfield to send me anything FREE, I am offering to pay.
My gun is still running with the bent extractor but I carry it as my EDC and not will to bet my life on it. Any suggestion other that mailing in my slide.

Any luck with MidwayUSA? They usually have a fairly wide assortment of parts for just about every make and model.

Man I have looked all over the place Midway, Brownells, and all the sites that say we have everything XD/XDM. It’s not an out of stock issue it a Springfield will not release it to anyone issue. :fire:

Seems to be a fairly common complaint by looking at other forums. Quite a few competitive shooters are none to happy that they would need to lose their primary pistol to Springfield for a few weeks to replace something that is replaceable by the end user. That stinks.

How the heck do you bend an extractor taking it out to clean it??

And why not just hose it out with a brake cleaner, gun-scrubber, or WD-40 spray nozzle & clean it with an old toothbrush?

If you just have too do it anyway?
Here's how without bending or breaking, or scratching it or the slide:

I lost a firing pin spring on an XD and they made me ship it too them. Their dime, but dang.

Hey!

You have to be smarter then a Serbian factory worker.
Or have a U.S. labor contract entry wage job to do things that complicated!

Well...if you forget the order of parts that have to come out first, yeah I can see that happening. I've pulled mighty hard one mine before remembering ... well, whichever thing it is that has to come out first! :)

If you shoot an xD/xDM much, eventually that's just not enough. I don't strip mine down that far but once every ?,000 rounds or so, but eventually they do just need it.

O.K. then.

I guess I will just hope my son shoots his enough to need that deep a detail cleaning.

Before I get too feeble to do it for him, or die of old age.
