Either gun, Glock or Springfield are good. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but work well. I personally shoot the Springfield better, and NO the grip or grip angle are ANYTHING like a 1911. I have a plain XD 45 that has about 6000 rounds thru it and has not had 1 single ejection or stove pipe problem, factory or reloads. I know people who have had Glocks with the same scenario. Those who don't know that Springfield has a 6 o'clock hold pattern will have a hard time shooting well, especially since Glock is POA I believe. Fat Guy in that video does not know his ?#$ from a hole in the ground. Hickok45 knows more than him, and actually proves it on his range, not just bloviates if your all into the Youtube thing. Tha fact is both will get the job done, get the gun that YOU SHOOT AND HANDLE BEST. Not the one that wins a popularity contest. If your looking at a 9 or 40 I highly recommend looking at the CZ P09 though, as well as the SIG 2022. There is just WAAAAAY to much Glock vs. Springfield drama.

Glock 17 . Parts can be found in several places. The XD series parts are hard to come by unless you order over the internet . I'm talking about extractors , ejectors , springs , strikers and all. The Glock also can be field stripped by using simple things like an ink pen. The XD series uses roll pins and other things and needs special punches .

OP has already made his choice but I would have said pick which ever feels best in your hand or if you can shoot them both which ever shoots best for you.
The choice of a handgun is a highly personal thing.

Edit: Deleted most of the post as I was straying from the High Road.
Irritated because of someone bashing the Springfield.
Everyone has their opinion and is entitled to it.

Thank you for the likes on the old post.

Looks like he's had a few too many trips to Mcdonalds to be so critical.

Disagree with him all you like, but XDs have pooped the bed in full lockup, tend to walk out roll pins, and tend not to be recommended by reputable instructors. Diet ain’t got anything to do with it, and there’s no call for the mean-spirited putdown.

Hmm... proof of the roll pin issue? full lockup issues??? Recommendations or not by whom???

I’m not sure I see problems with the platform any more than any other large manufacturers.
Full disclosure: I owned an xd9sc for years before trading it for another gun. Never had a failure of any kind. I was not dissatisfied in any way with the pistol or the company. I just wanted a different pistol.

I just don't understand the Springfield bashing,
If you want to say the Glock is better than the Springfield fine, everyone has a right to have their own opinion.

Now to be open minded about it and get back on The High Road, both are good guns, and have good reputations. Each has + and -.
I happen to like having a grip safety, some people don't.
I have shot Glocks but prefer the my XD, of course I like my P226 a little better than the XD, and my 1911s best.
However each has some + and -.

No perfect handgun yet,
.
I took the time to read what you wrote and found most of it to be rude and condescending, without saying much that is worthy of the High Road.
As I said before, I don't care for the large gap between the back plate and the frame on the XD.
I just see to much opportunity for things to make their way into the action.

I’ve also owned a couple of XDs that were fine. I’ve also owned a Sig 229 that was a lemon. My good experience with Springfield doesn’t make the brand perfect, and my bad one with Sig doesn’t mean the brand is crap.

Pages and pages of broken or backed out roll pins. Apologies for the long link, I’m on mobile and the tool for formatting to embed the link in text isn’t working. https://www.google.com/search?safe=...6i20i263i264k1j0i20i263i264k1.117.g11bothi98w

Searching for “handgun instructors who recommend Springfield XD” yields two instructors/schools on the first page who endorse the gun. One works for Springfield (Kyle Schmidt). The other is Front Sight, who’s reputation is meh to all right, depending on who you ask and what they think of the links to scientology and sales tactics. Then there’s the list of dogs that don’t bark, whose silence is noticeable.

I’ll concede the point about pistols locking up — they do, and there’s plenty of reports saying so — but it’s hard to parse that out being more of a particular problem here than on any other platform.

When you use a brand name food in a video to bash another product you open yourself up to criticism. Mean spirited? Please. Been around plenty of XD's not seen ONE lockup or roll pin issue. No one I know who has one has either. Though if you want to get picky, I have seen a few Glocks with cracked slides. The fashion statement of firearms.

This would worry me more. Not so uncommon.

One is a clever way to make a point, the other is ad hominem and widely considered to be the tactic one resorts to when they don’t have a good argument. If substandard arguing makes body criticism fair, why don’t you go ahead and post what’s on your bathroom scale? Maybe what’s in your fridge, or your time in the mile? The idea’s absurd.

I said in a previous post that in my own personal experience I never had an XD fail. I’ve never seen a Hi Point fail, yet I won’t buy one. I have had a Sig fail, but they remain a solid brand regardless. There is more to the world than our own individual experiences, and your belief in a thing and the thing actually being true are two different things.

Not going to respond to attacks addressed to me.
I did not comment that other posters were being rude or unreasonable or attack them when they were Springfield bashing.
I did not say Glocks were bad guns or accuse them of being junk like other posters have with the XD.
I edited my own post since it may have been not exactly THR, I did make a comment in the post before I edited it that said I was sort of on the edge of the road. I did not hear anything from the moderators that it was unreasonable.
It was not my intention to be rude.

Valid point, there is a big gap, the Glock has a gap as well just smaller.

One of my XDs has 10000 rounds on it with 0 problems.

I understand that there are things about guns we worry about. Then there are the things we like and don't like about some guns. You also have to look at the numbers. How many Glocks compared to XDs and in the hands of shooters?
I am lucky that I am able to shoot more guns in one year then some shoot in ten years.
Now I have never owned a XD but I have shot over a hundred different ones. I can't count the number of Glocks I have fired. I do own several Glocks, but they are not my favorite. I like the M&P a little better.
Now I can tell you this. I have trusted my life to Glock for the past 15 years as my duty gun. I carry it with confidence. I don't want a gun just for my protection. I want one that I can count on when I put myself in harm's way.

I don't think your intent was to be rude, but that is just how your post came across, as I saw it. I have posted for over 10 years on many forums, not because I want to show how much I know, but to share knowledge and have fun. What we type does not always come across to the reader as we would like it to. That is why I like to pause and read what I have typed before I post my reply.

I agree with you on the M&P, but I like my CZ better than all. It's what I shoot best.
