Yard sale .22

It is a NICE rifle ... but it is not a weapon!

Seriously, can we just STOP using that term for our sporting arms?

I'm stuck here in an ULTRA Blue State that just passed THE WORST anti-gun Bill ever ... and I'm trying to inform my neighbors and friends about how bad it is and where it makes instant Felons out of people who owned ANY semi-automatic arm legally for the part 18-years ... but does NOTHING against those with criminals intent and all I hear from the is the dreaded 'W' word.

I tell you, in that regard and that word use ... we are our own WORST enemy!

Rant out ...

Those are nice little .22s! Get one of these to clean the rust off. The blue might be ok. Buy from this site because they make them and it's the best deal. You don't want a stainless steel pot scrubber. Thes work great! Good luck and post a follow up.
Thanks, I placed an order.

Arkansas! Flea Market, side of the road, bbq’s
Gas stations, hardware, bait and tackle stores, department stores....you can pretty much track the timeline of our societies' deterioration by the consolidation of weapons purveyors- which is indirectly proportional to the fear the political/ ruling class has of the citizenry.

"The Weapons Shops of Isher" should be required reading in civics curriculums.....

Funny thing is with the WIDE availability of guns and ammo back then there was no mass gun violence and many inner cities were nowhere as bad as today. So......guns still work the same as they did back as 100 years ago, but it's who's using them.

I blame $.10 .22’s - when .22 thunderbolts were $1.50 a box, the world was peacefully with Milk & Honey (Glacier Milk- look it up)

1.50 a box for Thunderbolts? I was getting them 5.99/6.99 a brick(500) at dept stores in the 70's. Same with Winchester Wildcats and Federal Power Flite. The stores had those 3 on sales rotation. 70's??? WHOO! that was a half century ago.

90’s .. they were $1.50 a pack of thunderbolts and $13-$15 a brick

@junkdrunk Nice snag. I've never had a Marlin single shot but I've had a Glenfield 75C (model 60 w/18" barrel), Model 60 & a Glenfield model 25. They all work & they all shoot well.

Used to be a lot more common, not so much nowadays...
I sure do miss those days..... Back before all gun buying/selling had to go through an FFL. My 10/22 was a yard sale special back in the mid 1990's and around 1983 or so I missed out on a mint Mod. 700 in .30-06, (IIRC), because it was a Saturday afternoon, I didn't have enough money, had no ATM access back then and couldn't get the cash until Monday when the bank opened. Forgot the price but it was very reasonable and that rifle sold quickly.

in the late 50,s a good friend and i were hired to kill water snakes at a local fishing club, my rifle was a springfield md 15 single shot and wayne,s was old remington .22 single shot. the club was 9 miles from waynes place and in the summer we would hitch hike there with our rifles and as most local people knew us and getting a ride was pretty simple. the local constable picked us up several times. i guess thoses times are gone forever for the kids of today.

Over the years I trained my daughter and then her younger brothers to transition from pellet guns to rim fires with this used Marlin model 15 YN……… still don’t know what the difference between the 15 Y and the 15 YN is 🤔………… I had considered hollowing out the stock and turning it into a survival rifle, but then along came grand children ……… so I also picked up a Marlin 25 with a 13 inch lenth of pull . My eyes are not what they used to be so I scoped the 15 YN . I have since so far trained 4 of seven grandchildren to use both open sights and scoped sight with theses two rifles even going so far as to use CCI quiet loads (800ish fps) , so that the would be no crack or kick so as to keep them from developing a “ flinch” 👍🏻 .. to this day I am still amazed at the groups that both of these little rifles are capable of with ammunition that they like 😮😊 IMG_0101.jpeg
