Start at 20 grains of powder, shoot a 3 shot group. Increase by 5 grains, shoot a 3 shot group. Repeat until you get best group. Bench rested of course.

3F has been the usually accepted pistol grade of powder. In the small calibers many also use it in their rifles as well. What grade of BP ffg or fffg?
The gun belongs to a friend of mine, it is an inline percussion .36 cal. It takes S&W model 41 grips!
I don't know, the gun is 800 miles away. I will see it after July 4th. It is not a flint but not sure what type of percussion. I believe it is a target pistol as it takes S&W 41 grips. So, is it a percussion gun? Inline, or drum and nipple? Flint? Target or hunting piece? I think starting at 20 or 25 grains of standard 3F black or Pyrodex P should suffice for a starting point.
What size ball do you use?Shot mine this week at Friendship.
I use 12.5 grains of Swiss 3f and a .0015 patch at both 25 and 50 yards.
Extremely accurate.
