First I do not want folks thoughts, I want experiences.

Gosh that sounded rude. Still I want it under stood that I am looking for actual experience with the things I am asking about.

An out fit called Diana (not sure if there is any connection with the German Air rifles) that sells aluminum inserts to allow one to fire some pistol cartridges in shot guns, single shot.

I know there are folks and have been folks that have made aluminum pistol cartridge adapters for shot guns as smooth bores and even smooth bore adapters for smaller shot gun rounds.

I am aware that rather expensive Steel rifled adapters are available.

These however are rifled, but of aluminum. Now right away I have to wonder how well aluminum rifling will hold up so I don't need anyone else to express such concerns......unless you have used them for a bit.

I am just thinking a couple of adapters that would let me shoot .357 Mag/.38 special and 9x19mmP with some degree of accuracy better than smooth bore adapters might be a good thing for the fun kit.

Anyone with actual experience that can comment on accuracy and durability/ accuracy over time PLEASE chime in.

I don't have any real world dealings with them. But I do have a small amount of common sense. Aluminum will loose accuracy fast.

I wouldn't go for the aluminum. I've seen the steel ones, it's got to be better.

* I just looked up chamber adapter and the first one I came to was selling them for about $100. And I'm sorry for disobeying your post rules but how much are the aluminum ones?

about $23 plush shipping.

and the name is DINA, I got the name wrong when I wrote Diana......guess a hold over from going to see Wonder Woman earlier.

No I would not expect aluminum to last anywhere as long as steel, especially a $95 ten inch barreled MCA insert.......but I would expect them to be lighter and handier and about three for one on price.

I do not plan on sending pallet loads of pistol ammo down range with such a thing. Consider if you will the round counts of most guns sold in America rather than the counts real gun nuts might put on one. IF these things are capable of better accuracy than the smooth bore inserts out there for 300 to 500 rounds they might be useful and fun enough to throw in the bag.

I found some online discussions and one was a Kreighof owner that liked using them in his Drilling, but I have found no details on accuracy or life.

Personally I am most likely to use such things with my own lead bulleted reloads rather than jacketed factory ammo and I suspect lead bullets will fair better in these things in terms of wear than jacketed.

One thing that appeals to me is that these, as I understand it, are short enough that they can be used in repeating shot guns as a single loaded directly to the breech shell, it appears. I think I am far more likely to want to use this in say a Mossberg 500 with Ghost ring sights than on say a hundred year old LC Smith Double.

Ah. The company only claims "100+" rounds before wear effects accuracy. So 24 Cents a shot plus the cost of my reloads starts to look less fun.

Still.....

I might would buy a few for my bug. But that's about it. I've been a machinist for 18 years. I don't claim to know everything. But I have worked with metal a hot minute. Aluminum isn't durable enough for long term. Nor would I feel comfortable with what could happen if you had a catastrophic failure of one. It could injure you or your weapon. It's all about statistical likely hood. Parachute concept. Also I like the longer inserts because they would be more accurate. Sorry if I'm giving you thoughts not experiences. Perhaps you could buy one and review it?
