Ok, so finally I got to shoot it today.

I put a couple hundred rounds of some real smelly Remington UMC 55gr Walmart ammo through it (real strong ammonia smell) with zero failures and other than the crappy trigger it shot real well (I say the trigger was crappy because I got spoiled by a JP trigger on my last AR ... its just got your typical milspec type trigger). Next "must do" upgrade is the trigger, either another JP or one of those cool Timney drop ins :)

By the way, all I did is wipe down the outside of the rifle, I didn't clean it before shooting, nor did I lube it (I kinda wanted a "worse case" testing of the rifle). Its pretty dirty now ;)

    Here's a pic.

Note that it did NOT come with the Magpul MIAD grip, winter trigger guard or ATN Digital red dot.

On a side note, I'd never want to have to butt stroke someone with a CAR stock ... they're a bit too fragile (the stock was damaged in shipping. I haven't talked to the folk at CMMG about it, but plan on replacing it with a Magpul, so I don't think its worth the hassle)
[click here to see the damage]

The target is the first full magazine after I got the red dot sighted in ... I was stuck on the 25yd range today so I don't know if I'd be able to do as well on the 100yd range (especially with the stock trigger). The red circle is 2.5".

I feel I got my money's worth, thats for sure.

My brother is in China right now (working), but I've been trying to convince him to get one or two of these while the getting is good and the prices are cheap. He really liked my RRA when he shot it, and he's become (ironically) much more pro-US-Constitution while he's been living over there (used to be a bit of a dirty go-lucky hippy).

alright so if I were to order an AR from cmmg, right now they have the ones for 625 and the ones for 570. where is the difference in them, and it's definitely a good buy?

    Mine is a $570.

They used to have mid length gas system carbines for $625 (or maybe it was $650), but now I don't see the point in the $625 rifle as the $570 M4 is pretty much the same thing.

The rifle for $570 is 1IN 9 twist and is chrome moly, where as the $625 model has a 1in7 twist and a chromelined barrel.Otherwise they are pretty much the same.I f you are like me and the rifle is primarily used for plinking a couple of times a year the $570 would be ok,but if you intend to shoot at a carbine class or use heavier(over 69 grain) the $625 rifle would be your best bet.

I would call them about the messed up stock. Maybe they will send you a replacement and then you can sell it and use that money towards the one you want.

That is a common issue with the CAR buttstocks. I have had a number of customers call about it. My understanding is that it has something to do with the stocks cooling to fast after they are molded.

Is that AP4 Chrome lined or just Chrome-Molly?

According to the CMMG Bargain Bin website, both the $625 rifle and the $570 rifle have a 1/9 twist. The $625 rifle is chrome lined and has an A2 receiver, the $570 rifle is not chrome lined and is an A3 flat top.

I think the CMMG bargain bin is part of the vast right wing conspiracy to get more deadly assault weapons in the hands of the so-called milita so they can try to overthrow our Government.

    how was that? :neener:

Looks like you got a winner from there - if I'm ever in need of another, I'll definitely consider the bargain bin :)
