A few years ago I acquired about 40 boxes of factory 16 ga bird shot from a guy moving to FL. Its probably 15 plus years old, has always been stored inside and kept dry.
I just acquired a field grade Winchester Model 12 in 16 ga, 2 3/4 inch Mod. Serial number puts manufacture in 1937. Barrel is clean, not pitted and has NOT been steel wool polished. Action is clean and works great. And, there is no noticeable play at the takedown joint.
Now the question...Any recommendations or hesitation about bench testing this shotgun using modern ammo?
Thanks in advance for responding!
