You know, I think this says something about our society.

That lost scout (back when I was in scouts, do you think _I_ would have gotten lost?) was avoiding the searchers because he was scared of 'em.

Huh? A kid is so dang scared of people who he doesn't know that he's going to spend five days, and nights, playing survival training?

I'll bet his folks don't own guns, and are the sort of folks who live their lives in fear, not going out at night, not driving near "those" neighborhoods, etc., etc., and it has rubbed off.

Now I bet they sue the boy scouts.

CT, the PC thought police have detected a violation and are on their way to transport you to a reprogramming facility near you.

FWIW, I agree with both of you.

LOL
Thank Goodness,(don't want to use that other 'G' word, it offends people.)
Thank Goodness the young man is safe and back with his parents now.
It is where he needs to be.

Damn, harsh.

He was 11 years old. According to his family he was a shy kid anyway.

I don't think it says anything about society as a whole.

i haven't been following the story. was it actually reported that the kid was scared of the searchers? did they say why?

I think the dad said he had taught his son some wilderness skills and may have mentioned hunting, but I'm not sure (don't have the article in front of me).

look at the kids picture. Does he look of normal intelligence to you?

Personal attacks on a child sure represents taking the high road there champ.

Hey, the kid was lost in the woods alone,no food or water. Ever been dehydrated badly? I have. It messes with your ability to think clearly. Which is probably how he ended up five miles from camp.

I say give the kid credit. He's a survivor at heart. And, sign him up for the Boy Scouts. He needs more training.

Lives in Utah? Family has guns.

The kid was very shy and he was frightened by the horses the searchers were riding. He may have heard them coming and thought it was wild animals approaching. There are mountain lions in Utah and he may have been warned to be cautious. A man on foot walked right up to him. Something about the horses.

About 10 years ago some kids around 12 years old started a fire in a treehouse. One kid was too scared to jump to the ground (8 foot drop) and burned to death while his friends (who had jumped) stood on the ground screaming at him to get out. Who knows what anyone will do in bad situation, let alone a scared kid.

He looks like a really tired 11 y.o. who's having his picture taken while his dad is KISSING him. Remember being 11? Did you want any pics taken while your dad kissed you? I know I didn't.
