All things being equal, i.e. size of gun, recoil, etc, the larger bullet would/should be better than a smaller bullet in most circumstances given the "power" or lack of it in pistol calibers. Despite the endless arguments I think that's just common sense.

Given real world statistics, not "exit polls" :D or TV shows, capacity does not seem to be an issue as I read...2 to 3 shots. Of course, LEO and Military have different requirements than civilian IMO. Although a "reload" is probably rare for them also I'd suspect...but don't know??

So, the 45 is good whether it's an ACP or GAP, the new 50 GI is probably a bit better...all things being equal.

.45 acp

I like the .45 auto. As far as the .45GAP goes it wasn't so much an ego thing as a matter of making a .45 size cartidge available in countries where ppl aren't allowed to carry military cal.s from what I understand. From everything I've read that's where most of the G37s are sold anyways. Besides, I don't understand why everyone is so quick to attack this cartridge. Few seem put off by say the .40 SMITH & WESSON or the .357 SIG. Maybe it's becouse the cal. shares the same two digits 4 and 5.
Granted, there is no question Gaston has no interest in putting another company's name on his products as in the cases of .45 Auto instead of .45 ACP or .40 instead of .40 S&W or .357 instead of .357 SIG but I don't hear any slighting of ammo makers that do the same. Such as the boxs we buy of Remington or Winchester .45 Auto instead of .45 ACP (gasp!)
I have no interest in the .45 GAP. I've shot it and it didn't impress me. But the name on the cartridge or platform didn't sway my opinion.

I usually carry .40 S&W. The recoil isn't bad from my FN Forty-Nine. Quite manageable. Now all I have to do is source some full capacity magazines.

My vote will also stay in the same column when my S&W 1076 arrives.

10mm is the way to go.
.45 AwfullyCutePlinker just doesn't do it for me.

I like the 40 and 45 ACP just about equally. My G22 packs as well as my Para P14 and I shoot them both well, so it really is a toss-up for me.

.45 ACP; the equal size really did it. I would love to have a gun as slim as my Kahr K9 in .45 ACP and glady give up a round in capacity...too bad it ain't possible.

I voted for .45 ACP and .45 ACP ONLY.

I take exception to the .45 GAP being lumped in with it. Give it and Gaston Glock a catageory of their own. :fire:

Given a second choice I would take the .40S&W.

If I was in a bad situation, I would wish for my Mossberg 12ga. In a carry piece I would usually prefer 45ACP in a Para 12.45. In the last few weeks I have been carrying a Glock 19 9mm with a 2-rd extension on a regular cap mag for 17+1 plus 2 15rd spares all loaded with Ranger-T 127 +P+. Just opting for more rounds with the election terror risk or the DUmmie election riot risk. Also carrying a Kahr MK40 in a pocket holster as backup.

I did a Half vote, for the .45 ACP.

The .45 GAP round I despise cuz its intruding on the infamous .45 ACP.

This round I'm defiintely judgin' the book by its cover. Am I missing out or being narrow minded?? You betcha. As long as it doesn't chamber into the 1911 I could care less about it! :D

I voted .22 because it is cheap, easy to shoot, cheap, fun, cheap, good for teaching new shooters and did I mention cheap? :D

If we're talking social uses, 9mm/.40/.45/.357 Magnum, etc are all fine with me.

9/357/45

I shoot the 9mm the most. Funny thing is my "belt gun" in the woods is usually a 44, and a revolver at that.

Hehehe I could not vote as I carry most of the ones listed.

9mm, 357 sig, 40 S&W, 45acp, I like 'em all!! I carry 'em all!!

Remember, no round is ultimate and situation dictate usage. You will have a difficult time finding anyone who could sneer in disdain after receiving a double tap of any of the above rounds.

:)

I voted 9mm/357sig. My daily carry is usually a P229/357sig but sometimes my BHP.

Around the first of the year I'll probably make the decision on which .45 ACP I'm buying. :D

No GAPS in my house.

Regards,
Rabbit.

I voted "other"...

While bigger IS better, the smaller rounds aren't bad with good placement.

I'm content with my 9X18 Makarov... it's cheap to buy or handload for, and it's big enough for "social" situations.

I also kinda like .25ACP, but thats because the guns that shoot it are tiny... the round itself is pretty sad...
