Your dream rifle?

LH blackened stainless Winchester pre-64 model 70 with a composite or lightweight laminated stock. I'll take one in 270, 308, 338 and 375 please.

I have already built several "dream" or "ideal" rifles. Problem is, after I use them a while, I need to modify something else to make it perfect. I started out with a Siamese Mauser, 45-70, 26" barrel (ER Shaw), and a scope. After a couple of years, I chose not to hot load the 45-70. Than a 222 Remington Magnum on a Remington 722 action. Then a 6.5 x 55 on a M96 action, next a 45-70 double rifle, and so on. My two latest are a 405 WCF on a Winchester 1895 action and a 50-70 Trapdoor. My next will be a 7 pound 58 caliber express percussion rifle. I doubt that will be the last as something will need to be modified.

Winchester 70 in .308 with a Heavy Palma 20" threaded barrel in 1-10" twist possibly spiral fluted, sporting a Manners T3 with an internal magazine (BDL style) glass bedded of course, topping the rifle would be the excellent USO 1.8-10x37mm with their MIL/JNG MIL reticle, match grade iron sights, Atlas bipod, T.A.B. sling, AAC Blackout flash suppressor.

My dream rifle would be a for real BAR, you know a M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle, in .30-06 & select fire. Maybe one day ????

BAT action, krieger heavy sporter fluted, mcmillian stock, ziess victory, jewell trigger 300 win mag.

An FS2000 in anyone of the following calibers:

257 Roberts, 257 Wby Mag, 6.8 SPC, 7mm Mauser, 30-30 Win, 308 Win, 30-06, 338 Win Mag, 358 Win, 458 SOCOM, 45-90 Sharps, 5.7x28, 357 Mag/38 Spcl., 45 ACP

I personally lean towards the 257 Roberts, but those other calibers would be fun as well.

For me it would be a double rifle. Not sure which brand. I want it in 30-06 to hunt in North America. I want 20" barrels and ejectors, iron sights with rear ghost ring, forward mounted 2.5x scout scope, spot for adding a light under the barrels, 13" LOP with nice wood. It would have a tang manually mounted safety which would allow to select the barrel. It would have a crisp single trigger (its not for dangerous game) set at about 4.5 lbs (I don't care for lite triggers on a hunting rifle). There would be tasteful scroll work. Also, I'd like a set of 12 and 20 gauge barrels to go with it. I'm very happy with what I owe but I would consider this the pinnacle of my collection.

What's way cool is that there is very little overlap. All of us are individuals and it shows in our selections. None of us are competing with each other for the "same" rare rifle. Gotta love THR :)

My dream rifle would be a belt fed 7.62x54r. I have a bad habit of making my dreams come true. My last dream rifle was a DPM28, which now goes out with me every time I head out shooting.

I fully expect the next couple of years to have my dream come true. I will of course replace that dream with another (maybe FA 762x54R)

M60 or m249. Ge m134 would be nice to shoot if I had a Helicopter to mount it out the door =p

Probably would go for an m60 first though. Something about it I just like it. Maybe because it's bulky looking.

my dreams keep changing... each time I get my "dream rifle" a bug bites me and I have to get another one... then another one... then another one...

but, I'd love a 50 cal Barrett and something crazy like an m60 and a few million rounds to go with it!

Hmm....

is any1 here able to decide ? :)

The german luxury version of a "Handi rifle" :)

*sigh*

a custom built Vierling in the most common available calibers
would be awesome too :) .. with synthetic stock.
Make it a Vierling-Black-Rifle!

Look at the 'drilling' you found! Its a double rifle with a 20 ga barrel also. Now thats special.

Here is a picture of it.

I am here in the USA and I don't know how a double rifle 'drilling' would be an advantage. However I would like to own it for sure.

My bar isn't set too high on a dream rifle right now. A really nice Weatherby Mark V in .257 Wby Magnum or an M1A would make me really happy. Not affordable right now, but attainable sometime in the future.

I agree on the Purdey part but a rimless round in a Purdey double rifle OMG! That would be like putting gold spinny rims on a Roll Royce, it simply shouldn't be done!

Well I love the old .375 H&H. My ex brother in law used to let me play with his Holland & Holland double in the classic old caliber and I just fell in love. Just haven't fallen hard enough to part with $100,000 or more for a custom Purdey. Although I did damn near "pull the trigger" on a fabulous condition .369 bore but I am glad I didn't. $65,000 3 years ago would have put me in a serious hurt when the economy really started tanking. Maybe one day.

Remington 700 North American Custom in 338 RUM topped with a Leupold VX-3L 6.5-20X56 Target.

Either a GA Precision or Bryant Custom 6MM AI in the stainless flavor with a 26" bbl and Zeiss 6-24x56 tactical.

I had my hands on my dream rifle, just the other day...Too bad its not mine....A Sako TRG 42 in .338LM with a Schmidt & Bender scope on top....:-D sexy sexy!

@ Brockak47

Do you make it out to the Big Sandy(http://www.mgshooters.com/)shoot? Lots of fun, me and some of my friends like to take our toys out there for people to shoot. Great opportunity to shoot or at least see different platforms in action. Tons of fun if you have never been. Got to sign up early though if you want to participate but as a spectator it is no big deal. Plan on camping if you go as there is just too much to see and do for one afternoon.

I would like to rechamber a Garand in .338-06 but I would be happy with one in .35 Whelen since there is a smith already offering them. There are plenty of Garands that are not very collectible to start the project.

Next would be a Cooper Custom Classic in .338-06.
