Your favorite handgun

Don’t know if I can say I have a favorite or not. All my pistols I have bought to shoot. Got rid of a glock 27 because it wasn’t that much fun to run 50+ rounds of ammo thru in one sitting. And I don’t carry that offen. Bought an M&P 2.0 in 9mm to replace it because I didn’t have a 9 and wanted one. I guess I get the biggest thrill out of a browning buckmark 22. I can hit beer cans at 100 yards with it more times than not once I find the correct hold over. It’s an accurate pistol that is set up like my 1911 45acp that I built while in gunsmithing school 28 years ago made from a caspian upper and lower. The 1911 probably has more sentimental value than any of the others and is a very accurate full blown custom pistol. I enjoy them all tho really so it would be hard to pick a favorite. That’s like picking a favorite wife. :)

I've thought about my response to this thread for a bit now and have come to the conclusion that I can't narrow it down to one—so I'll go with my favourite of my classic designs from the 1970s and 1980s and my favourite modern one.

Of the classic ones, I'd have to pick the Bren Ten. Of course, it's got the mystique that comes with it, but even putting that aside it's a great pistol—perfect weight and balance, very manageable grip size, excellent looks (to me at least), robust, highly-visible adjustable sights (especially for the time), a great trigger pull, and a recoil characteristic that's among my favorite—a nice push that's enough to let you know you've fired something more potent than a 9mm, but without any discomfort at all.

For the modern choice I'd pick my SIG P220 Legion in .45. I like the Legion series a lot—they've got the best factory grips I've ever tried on a semi-auto, excellent high-visibility (day or night) sights, a frame that's subtly recontoured for improved grip and especially the overtravel-adjustable SA trigger. I don't care for the smaller decocker lever and slide stop but I can live with them. I've found it to be one of my most "effortlessly accurate" handguns, as I like to say—that's where your rounds go where you you want them to almost without thinking about it. It's a pistol that's civilized enough for a pleasant day at the range, but, if need be, could be used for more serious purposes.

I pretty much have a favorite gun in each caliber that I carry. When I carry a 45acp I carry my Wilson Combat Professional. When I carry a 9mm I carry my Browning Hi Power. When I carry a 10mm I carry my Smith & Wesson 1066.

Tough question, could be one of many, I carry an old LCP most often because its small, light, fits in a pocket and I can have it with me almost everywhere I go. So favorite for edc maybe that one, but secondarily it might be a 38 revolver of a Kimber cdp 9. I really like shooting the 4" GP100 in 357 but it is heavier and bulkier and not easy to conceal, so for in the field it is great but not a church gun. I also like my 1911, probably more for nostalgia than anything else, and my BP and old west revolvers too.

Maybe I am just adhd and get distracted by shiny things.

Brand or model?

Brand? Tanfoglio. Can't find a single fault with the firearms. The only and largest problem with them? EAA.

Model? Beretta 96D Centurian been my EDC for a long time.

1911s in general. Most of them now come with flat MSHs. Like my carry gun, a Kimber Ultra CDP, which I had to replace the grips with smooth wraparounds to compensate for the flat MSH.
My absolute favorite will likely always be this one. A Colt Mark IV that I bought for IPSC and pins and customized myself. Arched MSH. As a brand new gun, it's accuracy was rather underwhelming, so it turned out to be the right thing to do. Centaur Systems Quadracomp barrel, Centaur adjustable for lockup slide stop, Wilson trigger and ejector, Pachmayr rear sight and magazines, smooth grips. Tack driver now, with my loads. Only pistol I have that will equal or exceed my carry gun's accuracy.

Tough question. I love my G19s for all they are but I LOVE my very first gun ever - SIG-Sauer P226 (1988 West German) and pretty fond of my P7M8. So those are my favorite pistol(s).

Sorry, I tried....

Top flaw? The caliber(s) are not the cheapest.
I really like the Glock 35 (40 S&W) or Glock 35 with 357 Sig barrel.
Easy to shoot quick & accurate and offers 15 +1 capacity.
357 Sig generates impressive power from that barrel. :)
Glock 35 with 357 Sig Barrel
125 Gold Dot @ 1,399 fps / 543# KE
125 HST @ 1,415 fps / 556# KE
125 Ranger T @ 1,428 fps / 566# KE
125 PPU FPJ @ 1,461 fps / 593# KE

CDW4ME,

My service weapon is a Glock 35 in 40 S&W. I also have 9mm and 357 Sig barrels for it. This pistol fits my hand better than any handgun I have ever owned. Three pistols in one is pretty cool. :D

I can’t really say that I have a favorite. I really like the 1911 and a Single Action Army.
I tend to put guns into two groups, tools and toys. For me, the 1911 and Single Action Army are in my toy box, there are much better tools these days.

Yeah, tough question.
Thirty years ago I'd have said 1911.
Twenty years ago I'd have said HK P7--had more than half a dozen of them over the years, PSP, M10, M13 and so on.
Ten years ago I'd have said 1911 or S&W K-frame.

Today, I'll say for carrying, Kahr PM9. Mostly because my aging three-surgery back makes carrying a larger pistol/revolver a bit painful (although I do it sometimes)

For shooting, I still go 1911, S&W N-frame followed by K-frame.

I have two: a custom Colt Government MkIV/Ser. '70 1911, rebuilt in 1978 by James W. Hoag, and an Ed Brown Special Forces 1911. I use either Wilson Combat or Ed Brown SS mags in both.

My fav is a Springfield XD-45 4” service model. Flawless function, super accurate but chunky and ugly. I’ll never let her go....
One of my first purchases! I've probably picked up 15 pistols since I bought this one. Sig, CZ's,S&W's, all shoot great but this one is dead-nuts on at 12 yards. Nice peppy feedback when I pull the trigger too! It's my go to carry.
