Don't be taken in by a pretty face. I've noticed that in more than just a few cases the difference between a $120 rifle and a $180 rifle is the seller did a little cleaning. To some the price difference is worth not having to deal with the hassles of cleaning a surplus rifle.
As for picking a good one the basic list works well. Look for a consistent overall finish, check for matching numbers (bolt, receiver, trigger group, etc.), check the bore for pitting, look at the crown to be sure it's nick free and not worn, the action should fit tightly in the stock, be sure all the parts (bayo, cleaning rod & kit, etc.) are on the rifle and that they work.
The Yugo SKS rifles are one of the best deals going today. With just a little shopping I'm sure you can find a good rifle that will give you a lot of fun and value. Don't be in a rush and ask questions. If the seller can't be bothered to answer them, he doesn't deserve your money.
