Just restocked the M70. This is a B&C full aluminum bedded and free floated setup.

There was a fair amount of Dremel work with this. It is not a drop in.
But it turned out great. Now to shoot it.

Turned out really well. It should be a great shooter. I have a few. They all shoot well. One ragged holers at 100 yards well? No. More like 1-1.25 at 100. But mine are mannlichers. Many people have a misconception about imported rifles. But my experience has been that that are FANTASTIC values. Beautiful rifles with great triggers and pleasing aesthetics. I paid $550 for my mannlicher in 308 with a Leupold QDMA 3x9 scope. It’s in about 98% condition. AA1895BE-919A-452B-8CF4-26353789E560.jpeg

@army_eod Those pics well showcase the traditional rich satin blue metal finish on the blued Zastava firearms. A good looking rig! I hope it shoots well for you in its new chassis. Should be a great hunting rig.
Did you settle on a final contestant for scope mounting?

I have four Zastava / Interarms Mark X / Whitworth full stock rifles with 20" long barrels
With single adjustable trigger I have .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, and .30-06 Springfield. With double set trigger I snagged a 7X64mm Brenneke specimen. The 7X64mm will become my primary brush gun. While not "trashed" by any means there are enough cosmetic scuffs and such that I won't be overly obsessed about when it picks up a few more. I found a nearby gun shop with a smith who claims experience with adjusting double trigger systems. I plan to have a Sig Sauer 2-7X33mm scope with Hellfire IR mounted to it.

If I go with optics, I did order the EGW base, Burris Z rings and a Burris Fullfield 2 in 3-9. I like that scope.

BTW, I torqued the action screws to 55 in lbs. That was sufficient in my opinion. I was very careful as the screws are slotted head and not hex head.

FYI regarding Zastava USA web. I placed an order for parts for the M70. One hour later I received their shipping email with tracking.

These guys have the most amazing service.

I should have done this before I ordered the new stock.

Thanks for the news!

I sent them an email last year inquiring about purchasing new stocks, they told me having empty stocks available for purchase in the USA wasn't part of their plans at that time, but who knows what the future could hold. I'm betting you made a good call on the stock you purchased if it fits you and the barreled action well after the work you put into it.

Well I ordered a new recoil pad, grip cap and some screws for the rear sight plate.

Attempted to install EGW base. The two rear screws are too long. They interfere with the bolt.
Since I bought this from Midway USA, I returned the mount.
Went on the EGW site and sent a message asking about the mount and screw length. They will probably fix me up.

With my old eyes, using the existing iron sights is challenging. I would love to have a fiber optic front sight. I contacted Marbles about this. They told me that I need the height, etc and they could probably furnish one.
I went to the Zastava USA page again, and behold, they have the front sight in stock for$9.99. I ordered it. I plan to send it to Marbles so they can find a fiber optic version.
If I succeed with this, I have no plan to scope the M70.
