Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!
Hi ripdog here. I’m from Alberta and I am primarily a long gun user. I work on and with ww 1&2 rifles. I started hand loading about 40 years ago. Looking forward to some conversation with like minded folks

Welcome to THR, Rip dog! We have many long gun enthusiasts here, as well as reloaders, collectors, hobbyists and pros. Please check out the THR primer section in general gun discussions, and make yourself at home.

Hello, new member here. Been a gun owner for a few years but just recently got the definite bite. I have what many gun folks would consider a ugly stepchild collection of guns. lol

Started by buying my wife a S&W SD9VE at a gun show in OKC several years ago. Knew absolutely nothing about guns at the time but she wanted a "pretty" one. As soon as she saw the "Tiffany" green it was over. Turns out I really enjoyed shooting it and feel like we ended up with a quality gun, despite what most of the internet tells me.

Couple of years later, on a bit of a whim, I spent some my own hard earned allowance money on a Kel Tec PMR30. Had read that it was a fun shoot and I figured ammo would be cheap for it.

Bought it about 2 years ago now and still haven't gotten to shoot it. Didn't get to try it out in OKC then we moved to SE Georgia and still haven't found a place or time to go shoot.

Then this last week something got to me. Last Saturday I decided to go look at guns at Academy and brought home a Ruger Security 380.

Doing so made me spend more time on the internet looking at info regarding all my guns. And, it led me to wanting to have my own SD9. Academy had an SD9 2.0 with a Crimson Trace laser sight for $299. Decided I couldn't pass that up so then I added it to my collection.

I found NDZ Performance that sells custom backplates, mag plates, and upgraded guide rod assemblies for our SD9s. Also found some upgrades to do to the still unfired PMR30... stainless steel feed ramp, body reinforcement, upgraded mag release, and upgraded safety switch. So, down the rabbit hole I have been careening. lol. And, now it's lead me here to you good folks. I look forward to perusing the boards and learning a lot and using all of you as an awesome resource as my collection grows. Eventually I'll even buy a gun that the internet actually likes. HA.

So, yes, 3 of my 4 guns I haven't even shot yet. Making plans to hit up a range very soon so I can report back my thoughts on most of my gun collection. lol

Welcome, MikeLucky. Don't let anyone criticize your guns - or if they do, just ignore the criticisms. We all started somewhere. My first gun was a .40 S&W. Afterwards I "learned" from the Internet that caliber was uncool - or something. Fortunately, you have joined one of the most civilized gun forums available. If your wife likes the Tiffany green SD9VE then you are ahead of the game.

Opinions are free and worth the cost, MikeLucky. What matters is how you enjoy your choices. We are glad you found us and hope to hear of your experience with those guns. When time permits, check out the THR primer and make yourself at home.
