If I recall correctly, I once saw a bit of kit that deprimed primers into a bottle. Anyone familiar with this?

you can rig the Lee Classic Cast Turret press to deprime into a bottle by drilling a large hole in a 20 oz soda bottle's cap and sticking the deprime tube from the press into it.

That would be the old Bonanze Co-Ax press.
Now made & sold by Forster.

Ah yes, it was the Co-Ax. I saw a thread, iirc at castbootlits, extolling the Co-Ax's virtues a while back.

I'm considering the Co-Ax as it's not much more than the Reddings I was looking at, but since I'm really only going to be doing pistol reloading for now it would be total overkill -- unless it turns out I could swag with it too (still need to look into swagging).

Awesome the Lee Classic Cast Turret can be modded for depriming into a bottle as I was considering picking it up for depriming purposes and just using it generally until I feel something like a LNL AP is justified.

You could always pick up a cheap Lee Reloader dedicated to de-priming and make a tray primer catcher like mine.

The little tray is neat but I made my revision even simpler. Mounted my Lee "Reloader" on a 9" piece of 1x3 oak, bored a 3/4" hole under the press, mounted the lid of a pill bottle under the hole for spent primers. Bolted the oak block to the bench top so the bottle is easy to reach and remove. That worked so good I got a second "Reloader", and put a Lee Auto-Prime II on it, mounted it some 6" or so from the decapper. Love that system! And it's VERY easy to do with common tools, a piece of scrap hardwood and a pill bottle.

primer catcher

I just made one up for a Lyman Spar-T press the other day. Used a piece of 1/2 brass tube with a lub soldered on to it to fit the priming arm hole. Had to do a lot of cutting and bending, but it works a treat. Drops the primers into a Russian oil bottle that I had. John the toolman.

I use the same Lee Reloader press as rcmodel but instead of a tray I cut a 3/4 inch hole in my bench ran a some reenforced tubing into it and the other end into a 2 liter plastic bottle. I just use the Lee Reloader press with a univeral depriming die to deprime then use my RCBS to do everything else.

Wish I knew how to post pictures. I got one just like it but I have a little coffee can under mine. Best reloading tool I bought. 30.00 :D

Ahhhh, you guys are doing it all wrong!!! The primers are supposed to bounce off the press, roll across the desk, fall and roll under the other work bench that's so low that you can't get a broom under there.
By the way mine works perfect that way. :neener: ROTFL

Redding Presses are set up the same way with a pimer catch tube. I attached mine to a bottle. I also purchased a rig to go on my Dillon 650 that replaces the primer catch tray with a tube. I have not had a chance to try it yet, but it looks like it will work fine.

I picked one of these up as a dedicated depriming station. It tends to lose a small primer every 5-10 or so though -- the primer doesn't quite make it from the ram to the base opening. You have this problem rc?

Seems like there wouldn't be a problem if the space between the ram and the base was a bit less. Time for some jerry-rigging.

My Pro-1000 is mounted to a stand. I drilled a 1" hole in the base under the press and then the same to a lid of a medium sized pharmacy bottle, then superglued that to the bottom of the stand. The pill bottle catches the primers that otherwise would fall under the press and be there until you unbolt it to clean.

The RCBS 4x4 (now discontinued) has been using that system for quite a while. Mine has been running just fine for nearly 25 years.

Before that, I believe the Forster Co-ax was the only commercial press that incorporated this feature.

filling a 3 gal bucket with spent primers ? ? ?

My rockchucker is setup with 1/2" copper tube running into a 3 gallon bucket.. i fill it every six months or so...

Here is 1 cu.in. of CCI#34s (approx. 100 primers) 1cu_in34CCIprimers.gif

So... only 1 gal = 231 cu.in. = 23,100 spent primers in 6 mo. :uhoh:

Suffice it to say you are a high volume reloader ? ? ?

The Redding T-7 conveniently and neatly dumps spent primers into a bucket via a plastic tube attached to ram, as shown here.
