How much are you giving to gun lobbies b/c of recession?

Whenever I order from midway I round up to the nearest $5... if my order is $58, I give $2.... if my order is $50.01 I give $55....
I have a little OCD, I hate clutter and I compulsively get rid of "stuff" on a regular basis. Joining clubs like the NRA cause me heartburn as I know I will get stuff in the mail, etc... so I donate through midway. It works for me and I like it.
The only thing I wish was I could get a sticker as I have paid far more then the membership over the past year

And, if the NRA didn't employ former bill collectors as sales reps who hound my mailbox and telephone daily, I might become a member again. But, the last time I was a member, the word "harassment" would have been an accurate depiction of their tactics. How much can you give before they call of their money dogs? They need to stop with the cheap knock-off give away BS and stop asking folks who already give for more and more money.

I also just round up my Midway transactions and call it good. Not to mention the fact that I spend thousands a year spread across many companies in the industry, and I've no doubt those companies are contributing to political entities. What I do has not been affected by the economy or current Whitehouse tenant.

Four friends and myself all joined the NRA on the same day a several years back. None of us have seen the barrage of mail or had a bunch of phone calls. I realize five people hardly makes a big sample set, but it's bigger than just my single experience.
I get my magazine, the very occasional NRA Store "brochure", and renewal stuff starts coming about 2-3 months before expiration.
I don't know how long ago you had your membership. Maybe the NRA has listened to feedback and realized you catch more flies with honey.

That would be great. Maybe the huge influx of new members in the last 2 years has cooled their jets a bit.
I understand and appreciate the NRA, don't get me wrong. My subscription/membership expired in 2003...during a friendly political gun climate, and I guess they were hurting for funds/members. But the constant asking for more "desperately needed funds" wore me out.
Bi/tri-monthly calls turned into what seemed like daily badgering to get me to re-up, and that soured me a bit.

I let my NRA membership lapse as a result of being unemployed. It has been tough enough keeping the lights on & the kids fed. I intend to reup as soon as I am once again gainfully employed. They called recently & I was polite & told them not right now. The telemarketer then proceeded to try to persuade me. I hung up on him. I still intend to renew but being pushy isn't a good idea. It generally gets me to go the other way.
We are only talking about a few bucks out of our pocket for the good of the whole. I have increased my contributions based on the momentum the firearms lobby is gaining. This is a great time to put some extra funds to use. BTW I am on a "fixed income" as well whatever that means.

Yeah, b/c who needs to feed their kids...or keep them warm...when the NRA needs to put out a new pamphlet.
None aside from giving business to stores.
Thought about joining the NRA, but don't want to get lots of phone calls and stuff. Don't mind mail though. I can just look at it at my leisure or toss it. Phone calls interrupt me.
Oh, might get some magazine subscriptions if I can figure out if any are really good. Have one to Guns & Ammo, but I'd like to read less about handguns and more about rifles.

Since you're in Georgia, you'll understand when I tell you that I ain't fixin to get any more than my retirement pension.BTW I am on a "fixed income" as well whatever that means.
