Dillon Refurbish

I had my 650 rebuilt a couple of years ago. Cost me shipping one way. I wasn't aware the policy had changed.

What happened to the "No BS" Warranty?

I had my 550 refurbished back in 2003 after 8 years of great service. The cast aluminium piece at the bottom of the ram cracked and so did both the support beams on each side of the ram. All it cost me was shipping one way. The cast aluminium piece at the bottom of the ram has broken AGAIN, and will be sent in again soon. If they try to charge me that 15%, I will tell them to keep their machine, melt it down, make minigun parts with it, and I will go buy another Redding T-7.

The original post does not now or did it ever mention the 1050. I am going to guess your post was worded to elicit our responses.

Fifteen percent to overhaul a 1050 sounds reasonable to me.

I have a RL450 and was recently (couple of weeks ago) quoted the same. I THINK (not sure on the exact number) they wanted $50 or $60 to 'clean and lubricate' the machine. Unless they do a lot more than clean and lube, I think I will be doing it myself thank you very much.

Oh boy. Here we go.

Umm. I have never send my press back for cleaning and lubing as I am perfectly capable of routine maintenance on my equipment. As far as broken things, I've had the plastic low primer warning buzzer crack (they sent me a new one free), I had the screw threads strip out of the bottom of an auto primer (they sent me one free>the entire autoprime unit), I cracked one of my powder reservoir tubes (they sent me one free) no fee no questions asked no return of the old equipment. They are polite on the phone and ship stuff quickly. Honestly, I have like them a lot (I have 3 550's). I've used other presse s when I was learning years ago, they worked fine too. If I hadn't taken the blue pill I'm sure any number of other presses would have worked just as well.

I had a 550 that I was taking apart to clean and ended up damaging the ram my fault and no two ways about it. Called Dillon,told them what I had done and wanted to send it back for repairs on my dime,was told send it back we'll fix it no charge and they did. In other things such as small parts etc one phone call and parts replaced no questions asked.

^^^ what he said^^^. Their Customer Service has always been great for me. Even some of the stuff broken by the idiot operating the press (me).

Especially in the South, it seems... I just wish he'd clean up after himself!

Here's a RL 1050 that that I just fixed for a guy. It needed some parts and some cleaning. It had been sitting in a barn since the last owner died. Its ready to run .45 now. The new owner has the case feeder and will put it back on when he gets it home.

Love that RL1050! I have one that I bought from a gunshop near me that closed. He had 2 but I bought only 1 for $900. When I went back for #2 it was already gone. If we only had a rewind.

Let me know. I'll gladly pay the 15% and give you some money to boot.

I'd like to see something else that gets used hard for 8 years and the manufacturer will rebuild it for 15%. Cars, power tools, lawn mowers? I don't think so. Nothing I can think of.

That 550 would make a great companion to the one sitting on my bench. So, instead of bitching about Dillon, sell it and get that Redding. Make us both happy. I have lots of friends in the DFW area. They'll do a FTF for me.
