Hi guys.

Yesterday my eBay steal came home.
i paid like 30$ with shipping and was very curious
if i was buying some fake and being ripped off ....

When i saw it for real and held it, i was impressed!

It´s all handmade .... with god knows how many
workhours involved.

It is a non-lockback, with a strong spring. Very strong.
So there is no big worry about it closing on me
while using it.
On first try it opens a bit rough .... but a couple
hundred/thousand manipulations and WD40 will
improve that soon.

Whoever made this is probably not capable of Solingen
type hardening ... nor was the blade razorsharp when i got it.

.... 20 mins later i dropped it off at the slaughterhouse-sharpener
around the corner. He will take care of it for like 5$.

Ive managed to buy another one exact like this .... for only 25$ with shipping.
My also knife-loving best friend will be awarded this one for Xmas.

( My local laws make it a misdemeanor to carry one-hand-opener-lockbacks, This will be my new EDC.)

i bet the seller would ship to US :)

of course i cannot give u the link ... as i would
be responsible fpr ypu getting more blades than u need :)

Update.

I got it back from the sharpener ...
Only the edge ...2-4mm were sharpened
to not take the finish off ... and its sharp enough.
Not like what i´d expect of a factory AUS8 blade,
but it is still a knife and cuts things.

Stepping a bit back from the perfection
and admiration in blade-tech and tactical factor ...
i can see myself carrying this with great joy.

It´s a BBQ-knife in a way.
And i have i big enough piece of steel on me,
which is all that counts.

The combo beats my last tiny 40mm EDC with
tanto-tip. half-serrated, titanium-heft, thumb-opener
by far.

People would always go *** at that tiny knife
and consider u a knife-nut (true)
With this one everyone can find something they like in its
appearance. And it´s twice the size.

what´s not to like?
Once i can afford it, i will carry a Sebenza for backup.

It's a looker that's for sure. Are you from Texas? Calling it a BBQ knife is definitely a Texas thing. Everyone needs a BBQ knife and BBQ gun for going to fancy BBQ's where you wear a bolo tie and your Tony Llamas. :D

Any eBay links for us?

The damascus that comes out of India & Pakistan are very pretty... but I am still skeptical as to how the edge will hold up to use (not abuse).

Please give us a follow-up on how the edge holds up.

The edge does and will not compare to high-end knifes,
as the Blade itself is very thick and the pattern would be
destroyed if it was precisely ground over the whole width
of the blade.

Also nobody ever claimed that "They" learned heat-treating
from german engineers .... i doubt the makers of this
can read .....

Considering those assumptions .. it´s quite sharp.
Does cut paper right now. And it will be my Office and EDC knife.
I´m happy to give-away some sharpness and edge-retention
for the fact that office colleagues will be not intimidated/freaked
everytime i cut some salami for my lunch sandwich ....

For when i go to the outdoors .... there´s less fancy stuff to take the abuse.

You never carry a Sebenza as a "back up".

Yeah, gotta agree with Jim. Once you start carrying a Sebenza you'll relegate the pretty paki to the role of pocket ornament and have to think about pulling it out when you want to do something with a knife. That pretty knife has some nice handwork in it, but the relatively poor performance of the blade will ultimately end up being annoying.

A pretty looking knives that don't perform like a knife is supposed to used to be very common before tackykewl became the catch phrase. It wasn't any surprise to hear someone complain about a nice looking inexpensive folder with bone or stag scales and some file work that "just won't hold and edge". Now we're starting to see a return of fancy knives. Look at CRKT's knives with stag and bone and other fanciers materials on their handles as an example. The VanHoy Snap Locks and the Turtle almost don't look like knives at all and yet they're very good inexpensive knives that will intrigue more than frighten. The M4 now being produced is a great knife and dressed up with some stag would only frighten the most neurotic.

i can see the point in theory.

But not in reality, sorry.

It cut bread, salami and tomatoes today
and it sure is up to that job.

And i rather have this one on my desk than
the first two photos u posted HSO.
Those look nasty imho.

As i stated above one-hand-opener lockbacks are technically
illegal to carry here. And while not even the cops know shoot
about it, i rather be on the safe side as i EDC.

No this knife is not up to modern standards.
Is it annoying? No. That´s exaggeration stemming from
blade obsession :)

And due to weight and the potruding edges it makes
a worthy kubotan/fist-extension when closed.

The Sebenza remark was a joke of course
