Buying Reloads at Gun Shows

I have no problems with reloads from a commercial loader. I'll pass on reloads some guy through together in his basement.

I'm going to say what 99% of the followers are going to say; don't do it. You have no idea how those are loaded

I buy commercial reloads from someplace like Georgia Arms, but I wouldn't buy any from Joe Blow Basement Reloads.

Remanufactured ammo from a licensed ammo manufacturer is probably fine. Reloads from just "some dude" with a table at a gun show is a mistake and probably less than legal on the sellers part. I have seen loaded ammo sold with the stipulation that it was being sold to be pulled and broken down into brass and projectiles, and if it was something odd ball that I needed, I would buy it and pull the bullets and reload it myself, but that's probably not what you are talking about.

Same here, and I've had excellent results in both 9mm and 45ACP. LAX range is who has the best ones at the Crossroads gun shows in So. Cal.

I had a different experience with their reloads. Before I started reloading I bought 500 rounds of 9mm & none of them cycle in the Glock I had. I was lucky they shot fine out of my friend's XDm, we end up trading rounds. I wouldn't recommend buying reloads.

In one word ... "noooooooooooope!"

Just because the guy sitting at the table looks professional doesn't mean it wasn't loaded by a drunken blind monkey ... and the surplus/steel-case ammo isn't much more expensive if you're willing to haggle a bit.

I, for one, won't do it. Just asking for trouble. Reminds me of a fella we met at the range one day. He had a Walther P-38 and had bought some "9MM reloads" at a show. Turned out to be 9MM, but it was Makarov, not Luger. They wouldn't fire. I gave him some of my Lugers that I had with me for a Smith M&P 9c and it was all good.

I have bought a few thousand reloads at guns shows. One problem that I never had was with loads being too hot. Most have been with faster burning powders, and charges in the light to moderate range. Lighter charges mean less cost. There were a bunch loading for cowboy action shooting.

Cabelas sells I believe it's Ultra-Max? reloads.

Other than a name brand, licensed reloader's offering I'd take a pass.

I figure if I'm going to damage my gun with reloads, it might as well be one of mine. Why pay someone else for the priviledge?

I also would draw the line on any loads, or reloads, in zip-lock bags, brown paper sacks, or old cigar boxes.

I don't shoot reloads unless I reloaded them, chances are you would be fine but it is not worth the risk. IMHO

Locally our gun shows have 3-5 reload vendors.
Before I started reloading, I got a card and email site from them (if they had one). I found a pretty good one.
I found this guy (http://www.cccammo.com/) who is a licensed commercial dealer who supplies a lot of Old West pistol/rifle ammo plus more at fair prices. His reloading equipment is impressive if you check on the sight. http://shop.cccammo.com/wwwcccammocompage2.aspx
Do some research and ask questions about the ammo 'before' you buy, or you're taking a big risk.

I'll buy reloads from a commercial outfit. I absolutely would not buy reloads from an individual, the only reloads I trust are my own.
